I just had a question about when effects resolve. For example, the blue card "The FortressCrasher Dennis" effect is when it attacks you can discard a nexus to give it +5000 bp. Now does this have to be done right when the attack is declared or can it be done at any point during the attack like either flash step or when a blocker is chosen?

Another example is the green spirit "Caprihon" which when it attacks at level two it gets +1000 bp for each opponents unexhausted spirit. Would it's bp go down if an opponent's is exhausted to block it? If it were only level one when it attacked and gained enough cores to be level two from an effect, would get the additional bp or not?

As a follow up idea, I think it would be more accurate to interpret "when attack" effects as "when attacking" effects. A good example is the purple spirit "Bat-Bat." Even though it's effect says "when attacks," its effect isn't applied until a blocker is chosen which is much later than when the attack is declared.

To reply your first post, the effect will have to be activated and resolved before a block is announced. Effects that allows activation after blocks are announced have (Flash) written with the effect as well. Some of the effects also lasts for the whole attacking period, those effects are usually effects which activates when an event happens. ie. "When only the opponent's spirit is destroyed by comparing BP"
