The rarity of VTES cards in the database is encoded as a series of letters that you might find difficult to understand. Here is an explanation. Please post a reply or send me a message if something remains unclear.
An entry in the card database represents a card in a specific expansion, so when several rarities are listed, separated by /, this means that the card appears with different rarities in this expansion. It may also have been printed in other expansions.
Let's start with the simplest, the cards that appear in boosters :
R: rare
U: uncommon
C: common
When a number follows R, U or C, it means that some cards appear more often than others in the boosters even though they
are from the same "rarity". Cards are printed on R, U and C sheets and boosters typically contain 1 card from the R sheet, 3 from the U sheet and 8 from the C sheet. But some cards may show several times on the same sheet. For instance a U2 cards is printed twice more often than a U1.
Some expansion sets have a fourth rarity :
V: vampire
when uncommons and vampires are printed on different sheets (of similar rarity).
Things become a little more complex with starter cards : in VTES, starters only contain "fixed" cards : there is no random in starters (they are preconstructed decks).
In the card database, cards that were included in starters have a rarity begining with letter P, followed by the acronym of the starter name, possibly followed by a number if the starter contains several copies of the card.
