This game should have been called just DBZ Tenkaichi because it shares no gameplay styles with the budokai series at all, but thats not a bad thing.
The first hour for this game is deadly, the tutorial hardly helps, so you really have no choice but to jump right in. Let me tell you that the game will beat your a** silly but stick with because as soon as learn how to play more efficently be prepared to be blown away. I was just like the other reviewers who *beep* on the game but i think they reviewed on the merits on just playing the game briefly and that *censored: not good*. This game makes it feel like your playing the show more than ever before. If you want to stick with your street fighter/ virtua fighter gameplay style , stay with budokai 3 because even i still enjoy theat game alot, but tenkaichi is something good and new and is defenately in its own realm of fighting game but it works really well non the less.
Some Dislikes.
1. Transformastions are missing, i didnt mind ,glad itll be in the next game, but undrstandable because gameplay is super tight
2.Play in japanese for the love of god. Atari was stupid bad on on the speech sync with the characters mouth movement, the japanese is spot on.
3.Love the open stages and destruction ,hate the way that your trapped in the stage to some degree, but i can see people running from match endlessly and dragging the game on
Final thoughts
It a shame , this game should have been called something else or just DBZ tenkaichi
'cause this game gets alot of flack for not being just like the rest of the budokai series
, and this game and the budokai series (especially #3) are really good on their own merits.
