Neat idea; it would have fit perfectly in Kamigawa (if wither had been a mechanic back then) for overpowered equipment.

However, if we're trying not to overpower cards, then it needs more of a drawback. Maybe something negative when you try to equip it from one creature to another (like Grafted Exoskeleton); maybe sac the creature, or it loses those counters when the blade is re-equipped.

I always thought wither was too strong of a mechanic anyway, though. To be able to permanently affect creatures as well as players is a little much. Maybe this equipment's drawback could fix that imbalance and not be able to damage players (so only creatures). Or perhaps it gives that creature defender, so it can't attack anyway. Or you could just make it cost more, and thus harder to activate in the first place, but that tends to make cards inoperable.

EDIT: So sorry, man. Just realized it was a Mythic and not just Rare. That changes things. In that case, this is just broken enough to be mythic and still usable, yet tricky to get out in the first place. My mistake. Should be a 4 rating then, not a 3.
