General description:
First of all this is such a cool card. It's HP is really high at 120HP. It has only one attack which is Scorching Whirlwind which deals 120 points of damage. It also has the pokemon power Burning Energy which allows you to change all energies on your side of the field into fire energies for this turn so you can equip any energies to Charizard to use his attack Scorching Whirlwind.
Uses:
I would use this card to battle my opponent's strong monsters and to help out my other fire pokemon as well as Charizard. With his high HP he should be able to withstand quite a few attacks and his attack is powerful. His abiltity to change all energies on yoru field to fire energies could be really helpful to him and your other fire pokemon.
Strategies and game play:
This is not exactly a new card but it's an old favorite and a classic. And you know what they say. The classics never die. Use this card and other fire pokemon with any energies and then deal a heap of damage against your opponent's pokemon.
Combos with other cards:
Use this card with other fire pokemon to really burn the HP of your opponent's pokemon. It also would work well in a deck like mine which consists primarily of dragon pokemon.
Ways to counteract it:
Use monsters with big attacks to eventually bring down this large, powerful pokemon.
Strengths/Pros:
It changes all energies to fire so as I said earlier that can benefit himself and your other pokemon that require fire energies for their attacks. It also has a high amount of HP and a very powerful attack called Scorching Whirlwind.
Weaknesses/Cons:
It's only main weakness that I can think of is that it's attack Scorching Whirlwind requires you to flip 2 coins. If one of them is tails, you discard 2 energy cards attached to Charizard. If both are tails, discard all energies attached to Charizard. This could be a real downside if you are not very good with luck. But if used correctly, this card could still be very useful regardless of this weakness/con.
Variations:
This card has been printed many times with different attacks, type(s), and amount of HP but this is my favorite version of the card because of all the things i mentioned above and just because he is super cool and powerful. I am pretty sure it has been in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Japanese. Those are the only languages I am aware of that he has been printed in. I am not sure if there are any others.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is so awesome. It shows Charizard flying around the globe at near the speed of light. It definitely describes his pokemon power and attack. And just by looking at the picture and the fact that it is HF you can tell that it is a really good and extremely rare card.
Overall rating:
Due to it's power, HP, picture, and overall coolness I would give it a 10. But due to that slight drawback with it's attack I have to give it a 9.
