General description:
Ah, good old Hayate. The proctor for the Third Chunin Exam, although he would not live to see it to its fruition. This card will forever be overshadowed by Hayate (Judgment), but it has its own uses and can be a useful card of its own accord, if you can get over the fact that he's a bit more bark than bite (my term for a card with good healthy stats and really bad injured stats).
Uses:
This card can be used to stop any Mission your opponent would use immediately and decisively, at the cost of having poor Hayate hit the discard pile at the end of the turn.
Strategies and game play:
This effect can be immeasurably useful in an age where cards like The One who Inherits and Entrusts the Will and Successors can win a game by themselves (quite literally in the latter's case). Robbing your opponent of the ability to play a Mission, even if for only a turn, is worth the trouble of losing Hayate most of the time (especially if you have Judgment or on-curve ninja in your hand).
Combos with other cards:
There isn't really much you can combo this card with, although packing Lone Avengers in the same deck as this can be a way to cripple your opponent's Mission tactics.
Ways to counteract it:
The best way to deal with this pest is to destroy it before it has a chance to disrupt your missions. Best part is, all you need to do is injure him and he cannot use his effect. Also, he becomes a sissy when injured, so cards like Sand Coffin and Water Dragon Jutsu work just fine.
Strengths/Pros:
-Special Jonin
-Disruption of Missions
-Mental Power
Weaknesses/Cons:
-1/1 injured
-effect isn't valid
Variations:
There is one variation to this card: Hayate Gekko (Judgment), with better stats and a more defensive effect. It is the bettter stats that make this card inferior to the other, but people still play this card, especially in Mental-heavy areas.
Artwork and aesthetics:
I like this picture a lot. Hayate is getting ready to whoop some Baki booty. Go get 'em, tiger!
Overall rating:
7.5/10; Hayate is Fire's best Turn 3. Judgment or DaP, you need him.
