General description:
This version of Sasuke, the genius number one rookie was, at one time, an exceptionally powerful card due to its high stats, Sharingan status, and Weapon combat attribute enabling it to use cards like Demon Wind Shuriken: Windmill of Shadows to their maximum extent. Although its luster has faded, it is still a great collectors' item.
Uses:
He is basically a turn 1 beatstick, enabling you to have 4 power on turn 1. And that's really the only way to use him, except as perhaps a Sharingan base from which to fling Sharingan and negate opponents' Jutsu.
Strategies and game play:
This card has been overshadowed by more recent and more powerful alternative versions of Sasuke. This card can still be used, but is certainly not going to live up to its Super Rare billing with better alternatives everywhere.
Combos with other cards:
Hey, if you run the 1/1 Haku, you can override his no-Genin restriction and pair him up with a Turn 0 ninja. That's...about it.
Ways to counteract it:
The same way most people get rid of turn 1 ninja: make a team bigger than the team he is in. Shouldn't be too hard, considering that he can't be teamed up with anyone lower than chunin rank.
Strengths/Pros:
-4 power on turn 1
-Makes for a nice shiny cornerstone to complete a Sasuke collection
Weaknesses/Cons:
-Sooooo many better alternatives out now
-Can't be paired up with Genin
-No growth
Variations:
As I mentioned above, there are more recent and more powerful alternative versions of Sasuke like Analysis of Competence, Fire Style! and, most recently and overwhelmingly, Reason for the Late Arrival. RftLA has not only the exact same stats as IP, it also has growth, so that you can make him a 5/1. On turn 1!
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is not bad at all, and looks great with the obligatory Super Rare foil over it. Sasuke is about to fling the Demon Wind Shuriken, so it is time to duck!
Overall rating:
3/10. There are just too many other, superior Sasukes out there to waste your time running this one. Please, if you have enough money to spare for this card, go out and get yourself a set of Analysis of Competence. You'll be glad you did.
