Dark Magician
A Multi-Usage Guide

General description:
One of the greatest Spellcaster cards for combo-usage, the Dark Magician manages to be severely damaging while having multiple uses. It can be a trigger to use multiple spell cards, or it can be a general beatstick. This Spellcaster has the attack and defense to back it up, and not many cards can top it in today's meta.

Uses:
Thousand Knives -Destroy any 1 monster as long as you control a Dark Magician.
Dark Magic Attack - Destroy all your opponent's Spells and Traps as long as you control one Dark Magician.
Diffusion-Wave Motion - Pay 1000 LP. Select a Level 7 or higher Spellcaster. It can attack all your opponent's monsters this turn.
Dedication through Light and Darkness - Sacrifice one Dark Magician to seek out a Dark Magician of Chaos from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard and special summon it.
Dark Magician Girl - Even in the graveyard, Dark Magician can haunt your opponent with this lovely Spellcaster. She gains 300 Attack Points for every Dark Magician in the Graveyard. Think about it. 3 Dark Magicians in the Graveyard for a one-sacrifice 2900 attacker!
Magician's Circle - This is a MUST. Attack with a Spellcaster, activate this and it gets a Spellcaster of 2000 ATK or less from your deck and special summons it. Also seeks out a Spellcaster of the like for an opponent. You get out as high as a Dark Magician Girl, for no tribute, while you can hunt their Magician of Faith before they need it.
Dark Magician - Other than the cards mentioned, Dark Magician is not much. 2500/2100 for two sacrifices. Summoned Skull is better. But, if you run a Spellcaster deck, few are complete without this beast of a creature.

Strategies and game play:
Skilled Dark Magician - Use three Spells with him on the field, and you can sacrifice him. Seek a Dark Magician from your hand or Deck and special summon it.
Sage's Stone - Have a Dark Magician Girl on the field. Use Sage's Stone to bring out a Dark Magician from hand or Deck as a special summon.

Ways to counteract it:
Bottomless Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute, any of the anti cards. It is also quite susceptible to Chain Destruction, since most people that run Dark Magician run him in multiples.

Strengths/Pros:
2500 Attack Points
2100 Defence Points
Lots of simple combos and support cards
Easier to summon nowadays

Weaknesses/Cons:
Two tributes
Not gainable through Magician's Circle
Can be killed quite easily
Spellcaster decks are EXPENSIVE to run correctly
Not commonly ran for other problems I am not aware of

Variations:
Dark Duel Stories
Starter Deck Yugi
Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon
Tins 2003
Starter Deck Yugi Evolution
Power of Chaos - Yugi the Destiny
Dark Beginning 1
Forbidden Legacy 1 (I heard...)
All in English

Artwork and aesthetics:
I like the art, as it portrays the Dark Magician as a Spellcaster of strength. He's young looking, making him a Magician rather than a Sage or a Wizard, and has armor that explains his high defense. Fitting artwork.

Overall rating:
8.5/10 - It has a few bugs to iron out, but it is still good.

You forgot to mention the fact that Dark magician forms two of the best creatures in the game (Dark Paladin & Dark Sage) Dark Sage's ability means that you can get any magic card out of your deck when it's summoned and because of how it is summoned it can directly attack your opponents life with 2800 (more if you get an equip card out like mage power) and if your opponent has a few traps set downsearch your deck for heavy storm to wipe them out before you attack. I don't need to talk much about Paladin, he's just one of the elite cards in this game.

Dark Flare Knight, Dark Sage, Dark Magician Knight, Dark Paladin, Dark Magician of Chaos, and many other high powered cards are all based around DM... Really awesome card to base a desk around!

Also there are a lot of spellcaster decks that are very powerful and would ever never need a Dark Magician

no one seemed to mention this card but its not bad to at lease get the magician down 1 tribue not to mention its a spell card so spell counters go on your monsters that can gain them such as skilled dark and skilled white magician
