Ancient Gear Golem

General description:
Ok, I'm just sitting here with about half an hour to waste, so I thought I'd write a review on one of the cards on my Wants list *hint hint* lol. Anyway, Ancient Gear Golem....I have no idea why he's not in more decks. I mean, he's UNSTOPPABLE once you declare an attack with it and at 3000atk, it's guaranteed to leave a mark.

Machine beatstick. Duh. With all the support Machines have in the game (not counting the support they're getting in Shadow of Infinity), Ancient Gear Golem could be near invincible in a deck.

Strategies and game play:
We've all seen this card make an appearance in the new GX cartoon when Crowler Heavy Stormed his two Mirage Tokens and tributed them to summon the Golem. Another way to summon him would be to tribute Trojan Horse (EARTH-type Kaiser Sea Horse), Ancient Gear Factory and Ancient Gear Castle, both these spell cards are in Shadow of Infinity: the Factory would require you to remove Ancient Gears in your grave equal to double the level of a AG in your hand (in the Golem's case, 16 stars worth of gears) and the Castle gains a counter whenever you summon a AG to the field, and you may remove counters instead of tributing monsters to tribute-summon a AG.

Combos with other cards:
Well, the Golem is a machine...let's name off the cards it combos well with, shall we?
-Heavy Mech Support Platform
-Limiter Removal
-Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou (seriously, this is the ONLY card needed to make AGG truly invincible after you declare an attack)
-Rare Metalmorph
The list goes on.

Ways to counteract it:
Well, stallers wouldn't really be bothered by AGG too much with their Gravity Binds and Level Limits. Also, you could always BTH AGG when it's summoned or take it out with a Hammer Shot or the like...or a DD monster or Cyber Jar. But if AGG is equipped with Heavy Mech and Wicked-Breaking, you're S.O.L. (and if you don't know what S.O.L. means, ask your parents lol).

3000atk AND 3000def...makes for a nice wall or a beatstick. Plus when he attacks, your opponent can't activate their Sakuretsu Armor or Book of Moon...and if they manage to activate Scapegoat, that's like cotton to AGG!

The fact that he has no recursion hurts it a bit, but if you power him up effectively you could end up with an invulnerable version of Cyber End Dragon! I'm of course talking about the combo of Heavy Mech and Limiter Removal. Also, a lot of people don't run this because of the fact that it's 2-tribute...but when you think about it, AGG's effect is VERY similar to that of a god card on the cartoon, so I think a measely 2 tributes is more than enough of a price to pay.

TLM Ultra and Ultimate

Artwork and aesthetics: sure looks ancient...and it's big, like a golem...and there's gears on and in it...Ancient Gear Golem...says and shows what it is, so whatever.

Overall rating:
In a conventional deck, I'd give this card a 8/10, but in a machine or Ancient Gear deck, I'd have to rank this card a 9.5/10
