Soul Taker
Best single monster elimination card this side of Sakuretsu Armor!

General description:
With both Smashing Ground & Fissure being limited to one per deck with the last banned/limited list face up monster elimination spells are at a premium! Along comes Soul Taker and now we have a new and very cool monster destruction card that let's you choose which monster is destroyed at the measly cost of letting your opponent gain 1000 life points! WOW, that is simply awesome! You'll most likely be taking that 1000 points+ right back with an attack that you might not have even had otherwise without removing their creature first anyhow with your Soul Taker!

Abilities:
This card allows you to choose what face up monster you will be destroying! It is in my opinion the best single monster removal card right after Sakuretsu Armor currently available in the U.S.! It is very versatile and will soon be making many high level tournament decks and should be in yours too... assuming you can even find one right now!

I believe that the best spell and trap cards to deal with a single ONE of your opponent's pesky monsters are in this order starting with the best first-

1.) Sakuretsu Armor
2.) Soul Taker
3.) Smashing Ground
4.) Widespread Ruin
5.) Fissure
6.) Nobleman of Crossout
7.) Bottomless Trap Hole

Remember this is just MY opinoin, you can adjust your decks to what you personally feel is the best!

See it in a tournament level deck:
I have included 3 of them in my Six Samurai tournament winning deck! Check out my deck (it's currently "Deck of the Week" at the time I'm publishing this card review here!) at:
http://www.tradecardsonline.com/im/showDeck/deck_id/20476

Combo:
One of the best decks to use this card in to maximize it's effects is in a "Bad Reaction" deck. Once the card Gift Card (Your opponent gains 3000 Life Points. ; Set: TAEV-EN078; Rarity: Common; Card Type: Trap Card) came out in Tactical Evolution we saw the rebirth of Bad Reaction decks.

Bad Reaction to Simochi-
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, the effect of increasing your opponent's Life Points is negated and changed to inflict the same amount of points in Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points.

* Sets: LOD-093 & DB2-EN202
* Rarity: Common
* Card Type: Trap Card / Continuous

With Bad Reaction to Simochi out on the field, I think I'll destroy any of your face up monsters... and 'ooooh by the way... you LOOSE 1000 life points INSTEAD of gaining them! It makes an already awesome card that much better in that particular deck!!!

Ways to counteract it:
Here's the one real drawback of the card (as I don't count the opponent gaining 1000 life points as a real drawback!), like Sakuretsu Armor, they both TRGET the monster and thus it wouldn't be able to be used against a monster that can't be targeted... by spells in this case for Soul Taker or by traps in the case of Sakuretsu Armor. However, if you play Widespread Ruin, Smashing Ground, & Fissure too (like I do) then you can use those traps/spells to stop your opponent's monsters that can't be targeted and the Soul Taker's & Sakuretsu Armor's for your opponent's monsters that can be targeted!

Variations:
1.) Secret Rare (GLAS-EN092) holofoil - only available in the new Gladiator's Assault booster packs! Even though Upper Deck made Secret Rares slightly easier to pull in Gladiator's Assault (they used to be pulled 1 out every 2 booster boxes [50% change of getting a Secret Rare per 24-pack booster box] and they are now pulled at 2 out of every 3 booster boxes [67% change of getting a Secret Rare per 24-pack booster box], there are a whopping 15 different Secret Rares in Gladiator's Assault so on average you will pull one of these in every 22 & 1/2 booster boxes or about one in every 540 booster packs!

This card also comes in Secret Rare in 3 other Upper Deck Entrtainment (UDE) tournament legal non-English languages-
A.) German (GLAS-DE092) Seelennehmer,
B.) Italian (GLAS-IT092) Ruba Anime, &
C.) French (GLAS-FR092) Voleur D'Esprit

2.) Ultra Rare (LE5-003) *JAPANESE* holofoil - this version is not tournament legal though as Japanese, Korean, & Asian/American cards are not tournamnet legal in the U.S. But, if you are playing just for fun with your friends and your Yu-Gi-Oh collecting comes with a tight budget then this might be the version for you instead!

Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork for this card is pretty cool as it shows some menacing shadowy figure reaching into the chest of another figure and pulling out it's soul!!!

Overall rating:
This simply amazing card is easily a 10/10 in my book! Some of you may say it's a 9/10 or a 9.5/10 due to it targeting and/or allowing your opponent to gain 1000 life points... but any way you look at it the very minor drawbacks are very well worth it considering it's effect!!!

We are looking for this card:
If you have or can get us this card then please message us as we are trading for any version of this card we can get right now and will trade you very well for it!

Hope you enjoyed my latest review here of this truly awesome Yu-Gi-Oh card!!!

That's a nice review, but you haven't talked of any combo so far!
How about you combo it with bad reaction to smoochi so that the opponent loses 1000Lp instead of actually gaining

That's funny that you should mention that I was was just coming back here now to edit my review and list that very combo that you mentioned!

With Gift Card coming out in Tactical Advantage making Bad Reaction decks popular again, this card (Soul Taker) would work very well in those decks! Oh, I think I'll destroy any of your face up monsters and by the way you LOOSE 1000 life points instead of gaining them! It makes an already awesome card that much better in that particular deck!!!

not bad, but here's some old cards that alot of people forget about:

Life Equalizer: There used to be an OTK with this card and Blasting the Ruins a couple years back, and Soul Taker helps feed that OTK.

Agents: Feeding off the Bad Reaction Combo, Agents (Saturn and Mars) can gain massive power with cards like this.

Reficule: Basically the monster version of Bad Reaction, but I'm pretty sure she was released AFTER your last update, so I won't hold that against ya ;).

And that's really all I have to say about the review....nice job!

With the recent release of the card Dimensional Prison (WC08-EN003) which is a Sakuretsu Armor - that removes from the game, this big bad boys falls to #3 (in my opinion! ) as far as the best 'single' monster elimination cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! Just thought you might like to know!

I am considering doing a "card review" of Dimensional Prison, the new card that is solely responsible for knocking THIS card down one notch on the best 'single' monster removal cards in Yu-Gi-Oh!!! What you guys think??? Stay cool my TCO friends, customers, &/or trading partners!

yep i agree whole heartedly, the only thing i see being a problem with the card itself is even with the increased chance of pulling secrets, that card is very shy. also the fact that it can be combo'd with bad reaction and 1000 really isnt a price at all, i think we're gonna see its text somewhere on the ban list
but great review.
