General description:
At first glance Dotou Kazahana card looks like a pretty weak card that I myself had never apreciated. That is until recently when I was playing a person who had built a "Land of Snow" deck and showed me his full potential.
Uses:
Use this card for your Water/Sharingan deck to rival the low turn Jonin, Shukakau, and Incarnation of the Nine-tailed Fox.
Strategies and game play:
The most obvious startegy that one thinks of when they see Dotou is the plus side that he can be a 5/5 turn 2 ninja but if you really look at all the cards that there are in the game, then there is lots of possibilites. Also if he is in a deck based on the movie like I was facing, then his followers can pack an unexpected punch as well, as both head ninjas to defend him and/or back ninjas for support.
Combos with other cards:
Combos is the strong point with this card because it is the key to making him as strong as he needs to be. The combo that was used against me was first the obivious Chakra Armor that goes with Dotou's effect but in addition to this, my opponent also equipped an Anbu Days card to him as well. This made Dotou a turn 3 ninja with Power 9/7
and that is not something I was prepared for.
Ways to counteract it:
Sadly this cards great weakness is the fact that his ability is not valid so unless your opponent has cards that negate Jutsu, the best way to stop Dotou is injuring him. Also, if you keep a good amount of cards that negate Missions then the combos needed to make this card a threat can be easily avoided.
Strengths/Pros:
He is a Entrance cost 2 Ninja with the ability to be as strong as the Nine-Tailed fox!
Weaknesses/Cons:
His ability is not valid so it is best to keep him healed as much as possible.
Variations:
This card comes in his original Uncommon form from Eternal Rivalry, as well as it's Diamond and Wavy Foil version parallels from the set.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork on this card is pretty standard. It looks more like his Ninja photo for the villages' files then a ninja that looks like he could pose a threat.
Overall rating:
I would rate this card a definate 7.5
