Dragon Ice
When knowledge is power

General description:
Dragon Ice is a newly released card which is clearly underused. So let's start straight to the point. Below are some examples why this card can become a staple, not only tech.
Let's see how good he can be against the most popular deck types.
Perfect Circle: Lots of special summon occurs(Cyber Dragon, D.Hero Malicious, Fearmonger, CoTH...)
LaDD decks: Same as above, except that LaDD's second effect also comes in.
Zombie: Book of Life, Zombie Master...nearly everything really!
Dark World: Nearly all dark world monsters can be s.summoned via whatever method your opponent chooses
Six Samurai: Have you ever been trampled because of Grandmaster of the Six Samurai?
Gladiator Beasts: That's obvious...

Uses:
This card is the best stopper of Grandmaster, Zombie Master, Cyber Dragon and all recuitors! And now nearly everyone runs treeborn frog!!! He's a great defender though he cannot keep off Green Baboon ... If he survives, which he usually does, you can use him as tribute fodder.

Combos with other cards:
Waiting for your opponent to make a special summon can be tiresome so why not incite him to do so?
Use cards like Gilasaurus, Dragon Knight, The Swallow Grave or Spear Cretin to tempt your opponent into special sumoning!!! Don't forget, using Gilasaurus, the swallow grave and Dragon Ice givesyou enough tribute fodder for Destiny Hero Plasma, as well as a good victim to absorb
You can also exploit the fact that he is a dragon with A wingbeat of the giant dragon to destroy all spells and trap cards on the field.
A Legendary Ocean also turns this thing to a 2000Atk 2400 Def beatstick!!!

Ways to counteract it:
This monster has no evasion ability so the usual monster removal will work, as well as cards like Jowen the Spiritualist, who no longer sees play

Strengths/Pros:
-He has very high defence
-You can discard the dragon itself for his own effect
-The effect resolves in the graveyard, so skill drain won't stop you

Weaknesses/Cons:
Except for the pesky summoning condition, this card perfectly fits its purpose

Variations:
He's only available as a Secret rare in Gladiator's asault booster pack, another reason why he is never seen...

Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is a bit...not beautiful. It should have shown a huge sparkling dragon, not an undernourished one. But I guess by being foil he glitters all the same

Overall rating:
I'd liketo give this card an 8.5/10. In today's metagame, most decks are based on speed with an increasing amount of special summons!! So much the better if your opponents like treeborn frog

the only thing about Dragon Ice's lack of play is that while yes, there are a TON of special summons going around and Dragon Ice's defense can hold off almost all of those special summons, but more often than not those special summons are used to summon stronger monsters like Monarchs or LaDD. Dragon Ice is merely a stall tactic which doesn't destroy/remove anything on the opponent's field, which alot of people don't like. He's good for building a deck around (probably great even) but otherwise nothing more than decent tech, kinda like Compulsory Evacuation Device.

I've actually gone up against a Frost and Flame deck with Dragon Ice and it was pretty amazing. (hint hint ;) )

And I just noticed something....why not briefly discuss its attribute and type support? Water monsters are some of the most supported monster types around (like A Legendary Ocean, turns Dragon Ice into a 4-star 2000atk monster) and then it's Dragon attribute.....an EXCELLENT combo I just now noticed with this card is "A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon" which requires you to return a lv5 dragon on your field to your hand in order to destroy all spells and traps on the field! dang...maybe I'll get a Dragon Ice for my dragon deck ;) lol

Some good combos you could make is the use of Card of Safe Return, making the reborn of your Dragon free a charge from the grave. There's also Night Assailant combination (discard Night Assailant, you can get a monster back for it), and finally the discard of Treeborn or other monsters that work best by reborning from the grave (like Phoenix or that new dragon in the latest Dragon-lord set)...

You could of also added that you can use a Dark Wrld moster with an effect that when it is sent to the graveyard from your hand by a card effect, [insert effect here]. You could use one who destroyes spells, traps, monsters, or can be special summoned. I give this review a 4.

I thought discarding was a cost for dragon Ice's effect, so disarding for dragon ice will not special summon them. Also, there is a difference betweendiscard and send to the graveyard.....

I meant Dark World monsters, like Kahkki.
