General description:
When I first saw this card I had a feeling of deja-vu... I had seen this mewtwo somewhere before, and I had, Twice. Mewtwo ex is a improved version of blackstar promos #3 and #14. It has been given 30 extra hp, its retreat cost is increased by 1 it has been given ex status and its psyburn's damage has been increased. Basically mewtwo Ex is a grown up version of the original.

Uses:
I used to use the original promos in pokemon league at wizards of the coast so I know something about how to manipulate the power of this card. It is best used in a pure psychic deck.

Strategies and game play:
It is best not to send out your Mewtwo ex until you have at least 2 psychic energy in your discard pile. Then use energy absorbtion to get all the energy you need for psyburn the following turn. In one turn it is easy to get a fully energized mewtwo Ex ready to bring on the hurt with it's psyburn on the following turn.

Combos with other cards:
A psychic decks biggest weakness is of course dark decks, to overcome this use Unown D, no, not the one from Diamond and Pearl that lets you draw, the original one from Neo Discovery that reduces all damage done by dark type pokemon by 30, effectively giving all your psychic pokemon resistance to dark.

Ways to counteract it:
Again, almost all dark pokemon have resistance to psychic so take your pick of dark types, they can easly reduce the damage done by Mewtwo Ex to manageable levels.

Strengths/Pros:
Increased stats from its ancestors
Energy Absorbtion is still a broken attack after 10 years
energy removal effects are basically a losing battle with Mewtwo Ex

Weaknesses/Cons:
Ex status means if your superpower dies your opponent gets 2 prizes.
weakness to its own element and no resistance.
Increased retreat cost leaves no energy to use energy absorbtion after retreating

Variations:
English and other language versions plus its weaker ancestors blackstar promos 3 and 14.

Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is great, overall the artwork on all the pokemon cards have greatly improved over the last 10 years. (compare to the blackstar promos)

Overall rating:
overall it is a 8/10, My favorite mewtwo is still the one with telekenisis from the blackstar promo set and legendary series.
