Kingdra ex delta is definately a powerhouse in the Pokemon game. Able to wipe out 2 popular Pokemon in the game right now, (Blissey and Electivire), Kingdra ex d is a threat to EVERYONE who plays Pokemon!
Kingdra ex d has 2 attacks, Protective Swirl, and Energy Link. Energy Link is GREAT to get back discarded Energy from fainted Pokemon and charge up your Kingdra ex delta. This attack allows you to attach an Energy to another one of your Pokemon so you can use Energy Link with Kingdra ex delta. Protective Swirl is what gives Kingdra ex delta its greatness. With more and more Lightning Pokemon appearing, Kingdra could be in danger. But with Protective Swirl, not only does it do 80 damage, but during your opponent's next turn, Kindra's Weakness is gone! Plus, if your opponent is playing Blissey or Electivire, Protective Swirl will do even MORE damage!
Strategies and game play:
The thing you want with Kingdra ex delta is SPEED. Many Pokemon out right now use Poke-Powers and Poke-Bodies, and Kingdra ex delta has one of them! Extra Smoke, Kingdra's Poke-Body, states that "Any damage done to your Stage 2 Pokémon-ex by your opponent's attacks is reduced by 10 (before applying Weakness and Resistance)." Not only does this act like Buffer Piece, (Pokemon Tool that reduces damage), but it is stackable. For example, if you have 3 Kingdra ex delta in play, damage done to your Kingdra ex delta will be reduced by 30. Quite the bargain huh? In order to speed Kingdra ex delta up, you want to play Holon's Castform as your starter Pokemon, and plenty of Horsea from Dragon Frontiers(Sleepy Ball) so you can Delta Draw for a lot of cards. A Latias/Latios ex delta line would work as well. Latias's Dual Aura prevents all Poke-Bodies excluding Pokemon-ex. That means that everyone's Poke-Bodies do not work, except for Kingdra ex delta's! Latios ex delta or another Latios must be on the field in order for this to work, though.
Combos with other cards:
Kingdra ex delta is normally combo'd with Meganium delta also from Dragon Frontiers. It's Evolutionary Call Poke-Power is activated when you play Meganium from your hand to evolve one of your Pokemon. When you do this, you search your deck for 3 in any combination of evolution or basic Pokemon cards, which really gives Kingdra ex delta a boost to get out in the game quickly!
Ways to counteract it:
The Pokemon Tool Cessation Crystal is needed here. Lightning types aren't going to do much, but you need Cessation Crystal from Crystal Guardians. While attached to your Active Pokemon, all Poke-Powers and Poke-Bodies do not work. Because Kingdra ex delta relies heavily on Poke-Powers and Bodies, Kingdra ex delta will be shut down. Pokemon that do not use Poke-Powers like Empoleon and Lucario are very good with Cessation Crystal as they are quite powerful and do not have Cessation Crystal in their way.
The attacks are phenomenal, and the HP isn't anything to shake a stick out, and cna definately survive a couple attacks before going down. The low Retreat Cost is great, if you ever need a quick getaway for a fresh Kingdra ex delta ready to be put into action.
Unfortuantely, Kingdra is an ex Pokemon, which means when you knock it out, your opponent takes 2 Prize Cards. The Weakness isn't a big problem, but the Cessation Crystals are. If you want to get rid of them, play Windstorm from Crystal Guardians. It allows you to discard 2 in any combination of Pokemon Tools or Stadium cards.
There is currently one Kingdra ex delta, but there is a Kingdra delta(Fire) in Ex Holon Phantoms. It is not very popular, but people normally throw one in their deck against Grass decks.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is OK. It's not very good, but the pose is all right. The colors are great though, and it's a 6/10 on my part.
Kingdra ex delta has an 8/10 during the modified format, and should definately see play at tournaments.
