General description:
Dark Armed Dragon is the much better dark counter-part of the old Armed Dragon series only this time, he's come alone and ready to obliterate!! Who wouldn't want to have a couple of those??
Uses:
True, being a level 7, you cannot discard him forTrade-In(who would!!), but this 2800 Atk beatstick does not need any tribute and can even act as a Harpie's Feather Duster or Raigeki on its own, giving you incredible card advantage(+3) which can increase to much more...
Strategies and game play:
Cyber dragon, followed by another monster and DAD can be deadly, especially with the new card, The Calculator.
Combos with other cards:
The only thing keeping DAD at bay is its annoying special summoning condition. Unlike The Dark Creator, you must have exactly (and only) 3 darks as monsters in your graveyard.
So to use DAD effecctively, you must manage the monsters in your graveyard effeciently!
Some old school methods involve Soul Release, Transmigration Prophecy, Mystic Tomato, Strike Ninja and Bazoo The Soul Eater.
But now we can use cards like D.D Crow, Foolish Burial. Some others are shown below.
Veil of Darkness: Allows you too discard dark monsters you draw.
Armageddon Knight: You can send any dark from your deck to the grave when it is summoned
Cyber Ouroboros: When this card is removed from play, you can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to draw 1 card. So removing it for DAD's effect can add another dark to be removed!
Doomsday Horror: when he is destroyed, you can return all RFP(removed from play) monsters to the grave, to be removed again
Fine: Allows you to discard 2 cards...pretty slow and stupid...
Future Samurai: He allows you to reduce the monster count in the grave by one each turn
Dark Grepher: Study his efect closely, you can obtain exactly 3 dark in the grave with him!!
Dark Crusader: Allows you to discard one dark
You can also use Phantom Of Chaos's effect to copy DAD's effect for one turn, which can be quite devastative since PoC is so easy to summmon!
Ways to counteract it:
The usual monster removal(hammer shot works exceptionally well) but remember, with no dark in the grave, it's effect cannot be used.
Strengths/Pros:
-Has a high 2800 Atk
-Does not need tributes
-Can destroy ANY type of card
Weaknesses/Cons:
-You must have exactly 3 darks in the graveyard
Variations:
DAD is available only as a secret rare in the brand new Phantom of Darkness booster.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is simply perfect, it couldn't have been better.
Overall rating:
As the price of this card is so high, it's rating should be as high!! I'd give this card an 11/10. Who cares if Des Volstgalph is the rarest, DAD is the BEST!!!
