Card text: When this card is Tribute Summoned, remove from play 1 card on the field. If the removed card was a DARK monster, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.
General description:
Finally!!! The dark monarch of the saga is out! Boasting the best effect of the five, we can at last enjoy this monster’s wonderful RFP/Burn ability. Cauis can remove ANY card on the field from play, and deal an additional 1000lp damage if it’s a dark.
Uses:
This card is among the easiest ones to use. Just summon it and remove the biggest threat on the field from play. Child’s play!!!
Strategies and game play:
Caius the shadow monarch, by removing a card from play, can potentially harm many decks. It can remove key cards like Disk commander from play, making them useless. It can also remove spell/traps in stall decks like Wave Motion Cannon or Gravity Bind, which are most often protected by Dark Bribe only, which is ineffective against monsters!!!
Combos with other cards:
This card works unusually well in Macro cosmos/Dimensional fissure decks (the structure deck!) as it provides great synergy with cards like Soul Absorption and you can even remove the indestructible DD survivor/scout plane for 1000 damage on your opponent.
Being a dark, Caius earned himself a place in DAD decks and can also be played in Dark Necrofear or Norleas decks as he’s a fiend too! This card is expected to take the place of Zaborg in Monarch decks and will be played along with his fire acolyte for field and hand disruption.
You can even use Caius along with Ultimate Offering to stop Magical Explosion decks using the Cyber Valley/Dimension fusion draw engine. Time it well and you can summon Caius and remove Spell Economics from play, blasting the whole deck apart, and that too, during your opponent’s turn!! Pretty cool eh?
Another annoying combo I like is this: special summon Gilasaurus using his effect. Your opponent, due to his greed of drawing additional, will not be able to resist s.summoning Disk Commander if he has one in the grave. All you have to do is to tribute your Gilasaurus for Caius and whoooop!!!! You've got rid of disk commander for good and deals 1000lp damage in the process.
Also, you can remove Caius with his own effect to deal 1000lp, which may be more than enough to win a match
Ways to counteract it:
Like his peers, the most obvious way to deal with this monster is Pulling the Rug but other cards like forced back or Emperor Order also work well. The usual monster removal like Bottomless Trap Hole or Smashing Ground can get rid of it, but the effect will still work.
Strengths/Pros:
-It is a dark attribute, and that’s always welcomed!
-Can deal 1000lp damage
-Can remove ANY card
Weaknesses/Cons:
-The effect is not optional, so you must use it, even if it means removing one of your own monster.
Variations:
The last monarch is only available in ‘Advent of the emperor’ structure deck(SD14)
Artwork and aesthetics:
Pretty cool artwork, but does this monster actually have a head!!?!?
Overall rating:
I give this card a 10/10!! It is simply outstanding and can be splashed in all decks!

2. The card 'Emperor's Order' is called 'By order of the emperor' in English!
3. The structure deck is called 'The Dark Emperor' in English! 'Advent of the emperor' is in japanese!

Finally??? For a card that was released back 15th of december 2007! Wow, since 5 months, it's still 'finally'! First time, I'm hearing that!
Why did you not write the review when the japanese version of the SD was uploaded in TCO's database??? Why did you wait for the TCG release and posted a review a week only after????
For the 'allure' combo, I talked about a card that can be played together with caius in a non-dark deck! And not talking about the ABILITY that this card can destroy any card on the field, hence disrupting Magical Explosion by removing a critical spell card from the deck! In that case, you could have mentioned every continuous spell that exists and say that Caius can disrupt a combo made with that spell card! Ability is not the same as 'combos with other cards'!

I never stated any numerical value, or any suggestion of how much ppl should vote for me. Please bear this in mind, i used to get VERY low ratings when i started to write card reviews, and the score still varies according to my performance. Cyber valley has above 4.00, but look at DAD, a good card, same friends of the chatroom, but lower rating!
BTW, the only person i asked to 'give a big 5' was you.

Nice review. And another combo you can pull with caius is that he's a dark type as well so you could remove him from the field, and give massive LP dammage to your opponent. But still cool.
though caius is a good card, it isn't good for the new dark cards. This just adds more fuel to the fire. It removes from play, so it can help at times.
