General description:
Gust of Wind says: Choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon and switch it with his or her active Pokemon.
In my opinion each deck should have a free space for 2-3 copies of this old school trainer card, the Gust of Wind is probably one of the best knowed Pokemon card ever.
Uses:
We should use this card in case when our opponent build up a strong Pokemon on his bench or to switch the defending pokemon with weak basic pokemon from bench (in most of cases that means we take a prize card ^^)
Strategies and game play:
The strategy is to build up Your Active pokemon and switch the defending Pokemon to Benched Pokemon with some counters on it or Pokemon that will be KO'ed by one shot.
Combos with other cards:
The oldest combo is with Pokemon Flute (Bas Set) we search discard pile for one weak basic pokemon and then comes Gust of Wind... and after attack we have one Prize Card less
Other strategies is to cancel retreat of switched Pokemon, there is a lot of helpful cards, for example:
Octillery (Unseen Forces)
Dark Muk (Team Rocket Returns)
Ways to counteract it:
The Best way to counteract this card is to have no benched Pokemon xD or to have strong Pokemon with low Retreat Cost. In extreme situations we can always use Dark Vileplume (Team Rocket) and her Poke-power ^^.
Strengths/Pros:
- Simple usage
- Can definitely change situation on table
- Good against fat Pokemon with high Retreat Cost
- Many ways to combine with others cards
Weaknesses/Cons:
- Almost useless against strong Pokemon or Pokemon with low Retreat Cost
- Some Pokemon have attacks with similar effects
Variations:
Printed in many languages.
Artwork and aesthetics:
Artwork created on computer by Keiji Kinebuchi shows a Weedle blasted away. Simple illustration for card with simple usage.
Overall rating:
In my opinion this is one of the best trainer cards ever! I'm serious in my decks there is always place for this Card. Overall rating is 9/10
... and after six days of hard work, God create a Gust of Wind
