General description:
This is probably the most under-used card of the entire game!! People think that just because its common, it's no good. That's just not true!!!!!!!! This monster has lots of unlocked potential!!
Uses:
I would just play it as you normally would, but I would wait until you have AT LEAST one level 4+ monster on the field. Since his attack is the sum of the levels on your side of the field x 300, you'll have a 1800-ATK monster, which can easily defeat most LV4 and lower monsters used in the game.
Strategies and game play:
Use this card when you have at least 1 level 4 monster on the field. Since it multiplies its ATK by 300 per monster level on the field, you could potentially have a monster that will wipe out commonly used monsters like Jinzo and the Monarchs.
Combos with other cards:
Demotion + Opti-Camouflage Armor = a monster that can not only attack your opponents LP directly, but it can increase it's ATK with each monster on the field. A 300-ATK loss due to Demotion is chump-change when compared to its damage.
Level Limit - Area B or Gravity Bind: Since it's a Level 2 monster, it's not affected by those cards.
Metal Reflect Slime: When activated, it becomes a Level 10 monster, giving The Calculator 3600 ATK points right off the bat (3000 from MRS, 600 from The Calculator). Shout out to wolfangsd for reminding me of this combo!!
Ways to counteract it:
Cards that destroy monsters by attack/defense points or low level (House of Adhesive Tape, Elemental Hero Thunder Giant, etc...).
Rainbow Veil: Since it's original ATK on the field is 0, it can be destroyed by even the weakest monster.
Strengths/Pros:
A level 2 monster that increases it's attack by the total number of monster levels on your side of the field; enough said!
Weaknesses/Cons:
Can only be searched out via Witch of the Black Forest since it's attack while in the deck is '?'.
Only its ATK increases. His defense stays the same, so it's fodder while in DEF.
Variations:
Only comes as a common in Phantom Darkness
Artwork and aesthetics:
The art shows it all. A monster that looks weak, but is actually strong. It's well drawn!!
Overall rating:
This card deserves a 9.7/10. If it wasn't for the fact that it can't be searched while in the deck, it would be higher!!
i love the calculater im a big believer in his powers hes won me so many duels i loved the card review im not sure about some of it but overall i gave it a 4!
The calculator can be searched because ? atk points means 0 until the card's effect is applied.
I thought "?" meant its attack was undefined, and thus couldn't be searched. =/
It can't be searched. That's one of the many reasons why cards like King of the Skull Servants and The Winged Dragon of Ra can't be special summoned from the deck. Now, if it's attack was 0, then it could be. Check out the official ruling for King of the Skull Servants to see more.
And I thought of as many combos as I could. That's why I gave props to wolfangsd for reminding me of the combo.
A quick question: can you summon this card with limit reverse? For limit reverse to activate you have to select one monster with 1000 atk or less in the graveyard.
no, for the same reason it can't be searched from the deck. In the graveyard it has ?atk, which is unknown if it is a legal target for Limit Reverse, and since it's unknown it's not a legal target
One way i used before is comboing this with Yubel Das Extremer Traurig Drachen.
Gives him 12 stars to think about. Then I Reincarnate Yubel, summon it again then Divine Wrath it at my End Phase. So I had 11+12=23 stars altogether
