General description:
The first thing I’m sure you must have said to yourself seeing this card for the first time is: ‘Hey that’s not right!’ But it is!!! Judgement Dragon is a card that goes with the Lightsworn monsters, but still..WOW!!!
What a good card...
Uses:
By paying a trivial amount of 1000 Lp, you get to rid the field of every other card!!!
Do you remember the good old demise? Yes, Demise is the one who’s effect is closest to this monster, except that you had to pay twice that amount, and you had to ritual summon it. In some way, Judgement Dragon may also provide you with more deck thinning than Demise.
Strategies and game play:
Just like there was Demise OTK, you will soone be hearing of Judgement OTK!! The common ability of all Lightsworn monsters to mill through your deck will sent the required amount of Lightsworns in no time at all, which will enable you to special summon this huge monster as early as turn 2!!!
Combos with other cards:
Judgement Dragon, being made to work along with Lightsworns, does not combo with them only. By themselves, they might not get far, but the synergy between older cards and this new theme make them more than playable, competitive even!!
Magical Merchant
Magical merchant searches for spells or traps and sends monsters oicked up in the process straight to the graveyard, fulfilling the requirements of Judgement Dragon.
Megamorph
If the duel has just begun, paying 1000Lp as a cost will result in you having less lifepoints than your opponent. Equipping megamorph to the dragon will enable you to deal 6000 damage in a single attack. If you have monster reborn or even an otherwise useless monster like Giant Orc will cause you to win, and that too during a single battle phase.
others
This bit remains empty till you make suggestions or I find something worth adding!!
Monster Reincarnation
With this monster bieng run exclusively in Lightsword decks, the latter's mill effect will most likely send your *costly* Judgement Dragon to the graveyard. Monster Reincarnation allows you to grab him by discarding a hand card. Nice way for sort of er... searching Judgement Dragon!!
Ways to counteract it:
You can either negate the special summoning of this card using cards like solemn judgement/torrential tribute or use others like Light-Imprisoning Mirror/Destruction Jammer to negate the effect. Hammer Shot and Smashing ground will also work as this card has no evasion ability, but you may just never get to use them in time…
Strengths/Pros:
-You have to pay ONLY 1000!
-Very high attack and defence points
-Being Level 8 means he’s Trade-In compatible(who would discard this jewel?)
-You can have 4 or more Lightsworns in your graveyard. An exact number is not needed
Weaknesses/Cons:
-The Lightsworns must be different ones, for example having 3 Lyras and a Garoth in your grave will unfortunately not work
Variations:
This card is only available as a secret rare(just like DAD
) in the newly released Light Of Destruction booster pack.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is so so very.. well even I don’t have words to describe it. This dragon is so good, not in the least big disgusting or girlish. The background is as astounding! It’s like a kind of abandoned, destroyed, barren castle with only the pillars remaining. You’ll have to wait a bit more till TCO adds its picture to their database!
Overall rating:
Undoubtedly, this card gets a 10/10!! It’s soo good!!! One of the best cards ever created for dedicated theme decks. Although it cannot be splashed everywhere, Judgement Dragon is still one of the best cards in its booster!
