Rainbow Life
The Life Saver

General description:
Most people think that Rainbow Life (RL for short) card is a waste of paper, that the 1-card-discard price is too steep. I, however, disagree. If used in the right way, it could save you from a lot of Life Point loss.

By the way, props to prosaic for noticing an error with my original review and for his suggested combo of Dark Snake Syndrome and Ring of Destruction (though it was weird that both of us thought of DSS at the same time!).

Uses:
Use it to absorb an opponent's attack if he attacks your Life Points directly. It can also potentially end your opponent's Battle Phase if you have no monsters on the field. It could also heal your life points if you use a high-cost card like Dimension Fusion or Cyberstein.

Strategies and game play:

  • When you have no monsters on the field, activate it when your opponent declares an attack. It will absorb your attack and force your opponent to (probably) stop attacking.

  • If your opponent activates a spell, trap, or monster effect that would devastate your life points, such as Magic Cylinder, counter it by using RL. You gain the LP you would normally lose.

Combos with other cards:
Use it when you would take large amounts of damage from a card effect, such as Ring of Destruction and Dark Snake Syndrome.

Ways to counteract it:
It's a trap, so normal trap-or-card-negating cards would work, such as Jinzo or Dark Bribe.

Strengths/Pros:
You gain life points when you would normally lose them.

Weaknesses/Cons:
  • It's a trap that can be negated.
  • Discard 1 card could change your strategy.

    Variations:
Only available as a rare in Phantom Darkness.

    Artwork and aesthetics:
It's very pretty! Plus, a rainbow wall is between that Ra Yellow duelist and Terrorking Archfiend and Giant Orc, kind of like what Rainbow Life can do if you're in trouble!

    Overall rating:
I give this card a 9/10. It would be a 10/10 if it wasn't for that cost and the fact that it doesn't work against Life Point costs.

That's what I call a cool and neat card review!!!
I spotted a mistake though. Paying for things like Cyber Stein and Dimension Fusion is a cost, so damage you take wont could as lifegain for Rainbow Life.

    This is what upperdeck states:
"Rainbow Life's" effect is applied to Battle Damage and damage from effects.

Damage from effects, not costs, or these would have been killer combos with cards not yet banned!!

DANG! Well, that means that I only have 1 combo then, unless you can suggest some combos.

Try The immortal Of thunder, Ring Of Destruction(banned) or Dark Snake Sundrome(use it when you and your opponent are both going to get killed by the last direct damage and you claim the win!!)

Or my favorite, when Brain Exploitation lab is destroyed you gain instead of lose the lp. But spell of pain is better in that case to redirect the pain. 20000 damage done to my opponent once.

Who gave all of those 5s? THERE IS A SERIOUS ERROR IN THE REVIEW. Please give this review a 1 to cancel out the 5s. Overwise I would rate this a 2, because of a lack of combos given, but at least it is a underused card and not a card everyone uses already.

Ok, maybe you could give the corrections!!! And there aren't a lot of combos because many of the cards that would work don't because their damage is cost, not part of the effect!

I could list more, but the point is that you simply didn't deserve those 5's and I hope you realize that your review was simply overhyped (and/or you have "followers" that give you fives all the time and/or you beat people in a duel for their vote).
For Psychics: brain research lab, telekinetic power well, psychic tuning and armored axon kicker.
It works well with decks with decks graveyard manipulation for the discard and stall (necro gardna, quillbolt hedgehog).
It works well with decks with infernity decks for the discard and stall.
It works with power bond and dark snake syndrome.
It works well against burn decks.
Thats all for now. And don't think I just bashed this review as well as others just to make have a higher score, I have given a few good scores based off of how underused a card is, and how well done the review is, you can look around. In fact just earlier I just voted on a few reviews and just noticed that was your review on imperial custom I voted on. I thought it was a really good review, with great combos, which I added to in the comments, and gave your review a 4 BECAUSE I HONESTLY BELIEVED IT WAS A GREAT REVIEW.

very informative. my favorite combo with this card is colossal fighter, fire princess, and grinder golem ( or anything that has higher attack than colossal fighter). If u activate this card while your opponent has a monster that has more attack than colossal and you have fire princess you can keep ramming into that monster with colossal fighter while gaining life points and fire princess would deal 500 damage each time you do that so it's an infinite combo and u win that turn if u do it correctly.

Ooh, I didn't know about THAT combo! Thanks! The problem is that this takes 2 turns to accomplish since you can summon the turn you summon Grinder Golem.
