General description:
Lightsworn decks have become really popular these days. With their fantastic effects and great stats, its no wonder that this has become a popular deck genre. Some people say that the one thing that holds the deck together is the extremely rare Judgment Dragon. However as good as Judgment Dragon may be, Wulf is the real card holding the deck together.
Uses:
A big problem a lightsworn deck suffers from is that almost every one makes you discard cards of the top of your deck. Wulf takes advantage of these discard abilities by allowing you to summon him instantly when he's sent from the deck to the graveyard. And considering he has 2100 ATK, that could basically destroy your opponent in a matter of turns.
Strategies and game play:
In addition to having a great effect, wulf is also good because he is affordable. Why is that importent? Well cards like ehren, charge of the light brigade and Judgment dragon are all great addition to a lightsworn deck, but they're all extremley expensive and really rare. Wulf on the other hand is not too hard to find and fairly easy to get 3 copies of. Wulf is the one thing that makes a good lightsworn deck without having to spend tons of money on the secret rares.
Combos with other cards:
There's not really too many combo's you can pull off with wulf, so I'm just gonna list a couple cards that can summon him quicker.
Foolish Burial: Foolish Burial can automatically send any card from the deck to the graveyard, so you may be able to summon wulf in you first turn.
Fiend Comedian
Call the toss right: all your opponent's cards in their graveyard are removed from play. Call it wrong: then keep discarding cards from the top of your deck until you've discarded the same amount as the number of cards in your opponents graveyard. In short, calling it wrong should cause you to summon at least 1 wulf.
Marauding Captain
Because wulf is a level 4 monster, Maurading Captain can use his ability to special summon him once Captain hits the field. This will allow the summoning of 2 monsters in one turn.
Ways to counteract it:
Like every card out there, wulf has a downside. Wulf unfortunately possesses the same flaw as rare metal dragon, in which he cannot be normal summoned or set. That means that if you have the misfortune of drawing wulf, you can't really do anything with him other than discard him to activate a good effect (like lumina). It also wouldn't help if your opponent plays a card like marco cosmos or dimensional fissure to prevent wulf from going into the graveyard, thus being unable to special summon him.
Strengths/Pros:
2100 ATK for a LV4
Takes advantage of all the other lightsworn discard ability
Doesn't have a discard ability unlike other lightsworns
Weaknesses/Cons:
Can't be normal summoned or set
Remove from play cards prevent him from being summoned
Artwork and aesthetics:
I find the artwork to be a little wierd. The silver/golden armor and the claws on wulf's hands look pretty cool, but why in the world does he have a white ponytail? Also I find that the silver robe that goes around his waist just doesn't fit with the rest of the picture, more less with his left leg sticking out of it. Even so, it's still a pretty cool picture.
Overall rating:
I give this card a 9/10. Three copies of this card are nessesary to run a good lightsworn deck. Judgment dragon may be a great add in to a LS deck, but wulfs are absolutley manditory to run one right.
