When this monster battles an opponent's monster, if the opponent's monster is not destroyed as a result of the battle, the opponent's monster is returned to its owner's hand at the end of the Damage Step.

General description:
This card gets very little use in today's decks, though I don't know why! It's a great way to stall, with the right combo!

Uses:
Basically, any monster that battles this card and isn't destroyed is returned to it's owner's hand! Use it to clear the field of annoying "cannot be destroyed" cards!

Strategies and game play:
Since this card returns a monster to it's owner's hand if it isn't destroyed, it's a great way to temporarily get rid of annoying cards like Spirit Reaper and Marshmallon. Or attack your opponent's stronger monsters to force the monster back into their hand. You can even not attack with it. When your opponent attacks it, their monster is returned to their hand, even if Hyper Hammerhead is destroyed.


Combos with other cards:
Unfortunately there aren't very many combos with this card. But here's three!

Hyper Hammerhead + Rocket Pileder = An unbeatable monster! A weaker monster is destroyed, and Hyper Hammerhead isn't destroyed by a stronger monster.

Hyper Hammerhead + any ATK-boosting card = Obviously a stronger monster!

Hyper Hammerhead + Degenerate Circuit = Monsters are removed from play instead of returned to the hand. Very useful when HH can't be destroyed by battle!

Ways to counteract it:

  1. Use a monster that can be special summoned, preferably one that's special summoned from your hand when it returns to your hand
  2. Use a monster with the same attack so both are destroyed
  3. Use a monster that is immune to monster effects
  4. Any monster-destroying card (such as Fissure or Smashing Ground)


Strengths/Pros:
  1. Can be searched using Giant Rat, Sangan, and Witch of the Black Forest.
  2. Even if Hyper Hammerhead is destroyed, your opponent's monster returns to their hand.


Weaknesses/Cons:
  1. 1500 ATK isn't very impressive in today's game.
  2. Isn't immune to anything


Variations:
This card is always available as a common and is available in the sets Dark Revelations 2, Invasion of Chaos, and Starter Deck 9: Dinosaur's Rage.

Artwork and aesthetics:
I like the artwork! It really brings out the monster's strengths!

Overall rating:
I'd give this card a 8.5 or 9 out of 10 in any deck! If this card was stronger, I'd give it a higher rating.

Good card but bad timing for reveiw because of Soldier of Mist Valley recent release. OK because it can be summoned by Giant Rat though.

yeah, well, I kinda wanted to pick a card that can be commonly found. I mean, with Soldier of Mist Valley, I bought 10-15 packs and JUST pulled 2! Besides, I like choosing cards that aren't holo, or rare at most. People think that if it's shiny they'll win with it. That may be the case in some cases, but that doesn't mean you should just bypass over the non-holo cards as well.

I agree completely. Just your timing sure was ironic... This card was released 3+ years ago, and you choose this month to do this, it's just... lol.

What else did you pull in Hidden Arsenal, in my 16 packs I got 1 Brionic, Catastor and Soldier, pretty much 1 of every secret except mist worm (won't let me spell worm right, lol) and flembell synchro.

Actually, my premium subscription's almost up (in January), and I didn't wanna pay for one, so I chose this one hoping to win the Card Review and get free membership.

Well Konami is pretty money hungry that's why the top decks like LightSworn run for hundreds of dollars. This monster is like an offensive GK Guard.

i don't think using fissure is a way to counteract the monster. It's a way to destroy it, but fissure couldn't be used against it if it was your turn. Negate attack and skill drain or traps like that are ways to counteract it, and the other ways you listed are ways. Just a thought.
