When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, select and destroy 1 card your opponent controls. When this face-up card you control is targeted by an opponent's Effect Monster's effect, look at your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from their hand.

General description:
Boss monster from Structure Deck: Machina Mahem. Powerful beatstick with awesome effects. It has the ability to special summon itself from the graveyard and destroys a card when it is destroyed in battle, making your opponent think twice when they are attacking.

Since the Release of the deck, there have been reports where newcomers are going to regionals with 3 Machina Mahem Decks and a few staples like mirror force ETC. They have actually won many of them, proving that the splash of Machinas has indeed defined some of today's current meta.



Uses:
With its cost to special summon, all you need to do is discard machine monsters from your hand that equal to level 8 or higher. In the TCG rulings he can be used for his OWN COST! Imagine your opponent having a Stardust Dragon and another monster on the field. Your can ram your fortress into the stardust killing it, and since it was destroyed in battle, you can destroy the other monster along with it, a 2 for 1.

As for a Second effect, if hes going to be targeted by an effect of a monster, in example, BW-Gale the whirlwind, Brionac or Dark Armed Dragon, you can look in your opponents hand and choose to discard one of their cards, works basically like a trap dustshoot in a way. Now your opponent has to think twice about using gale to run over fortress.

Strategies and game play:
You use machina fortress to ensure victory in games. he's strong enough to make the final push to win in many situations. along with other machine support like limit removal, he can be a wary foe indeed. having the targeting effect makes him a hard decision if your going to destroy it with cards such as snipe hunter and gale.

Combos with other cards:
When the Machina Mahem deck was released, people realized that Fortress works very well with gadgets, because they always replenish your hand when summoned. Along with Machina Gearframe and Machina Peacekeeper, Getting Fortress out is very easy. Really, any deck with level 8+ machine types (especially like Ancient Gear Gadgilitron Dragon) makes it worthwhile to play Machina Fortress, Fortress is basically a staple in all Machine decks now.

Ways to counteract it:
Anti-Machine Cards such as System Down and magnetic mosquito destroys machines, other than that, hes a hard foe to take down. he also has a decently low defense for a machine (which makes no sense whatsoever, even though machiens are metal plated). He is also crippled bu the effects of gravekeepers because effects cannot activate in the grave while necrovalley is on the field.

Strengths/Pros:
+2500 Attack
+Easy to summon
+Can be special summoned from the graveyard
+Destroys a card when it itself is destroyed in battle
+Makes your opponent not want to target the card
+Low cost card that can be bought in a structure deck

Weaknesses/Cons:
-Anti Machine cards
-Traps like all monsters are (can be avoided when equiped with peacekeeper or gearframe)
-Can diminish hand power if over extending

Variations:
Its a pretty new card, there are no other variations other than the structure deck one

Artwork and aesthetics:
Machina Fortress lives up to its name. He looks like an impenetrable gorilla tank.

Overall rating:
In Machine Decks, Hes extremely spashable in machines so i'd give him a 8/10 in machine decks, in other decks, he wouldnt be much of a viable option so i'd give him alow score in that scale.

This guy is awesome. He combos great with gadgets, and pretty much every deck that needs monsters in the graveyard. I give him a 9.5 out of 10.

I think you forgot an effect, when he's targeted by an effect monster, you can LOOK into your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from it.

Don't forget, counteract with grave keepers or other cards that negates effects from the grave.

Plus, he have 2500atk for level 7. It isn't a high status attack (i think more like a medium), But since he have that destruction effect that only works if he is destroyed in battle. 2500atk make it more easy.

Strengths/Pros:
He is unlimited
from Structure Deck: Machina Mahem (easy to purchase)
Destroys a card when it itself is destroyed by Battle.

if "dark ruler" could destroy M.F. by batle, dark ruler effect can negate M.F. effect.

Yes i agreed with you, he is a 8 or a 9 or even a 10 in a machine deck (if well used).
But outside, in other decks, since he need machines to special summon itself. He is a 5 or a 7 (that is because the others 2 effects are still great).

I personally like this card a lot. I tried making a spaceship deck using this card, but I quickly discarded that Idea after seeing this review and others like it, now I'm ready to make a machina gadget deck revolving around this. Thanks dude

This card is way to broken in gadgets. Look for it to get nerfed either to one or two this next ban list. Nice review!

I do agree about it being broken and do anticipate a limit at some point. However, this card is great for just about any machine deck especially when the deck contains two.
