Maabara

Review republished from the Malkavian Antitribu Newsletter, Feb 2006.

Card recycling is very good, especially in a combo-deck that relies on
certain key cards. This card is somewhat similar to The Sargon
Fragment: both allow you to play a single card in your ash heap again
and again. The Fragment is more likely to be contested, and the card
retrieval action can be blocked, but Maabara is going to be stolen
unless you can protect it. You don't need to play an intercept deck to
protect Maabara - one Guard Duty may be enough, especially in
combination with a good weapon like Ivory Bow. Even if you lose
Maabara, you may still return it with Anthelios, Red Star or the Sargon
Fragment.
Surely, spending a MPA for Maabara's ability is harsh, but if you have
more than 1 MPAs per turn (The Parthenon, Rumors of Gehenna and so on),
this card becomes extremely advantageous. Again, Maabara is especially
good with Sibyl's Tongues, since it allows you to recycle Tongues and
play the first one several times.
