General description:
ok now, with all these new kool insects coming out, its time to start reviewing some of the support they have. To me this is a great card, even before SOI came out , i managed to make a really good insect deck with three copies of this card. Let's see some of the descent monsters you could summon with this little guy:
1. Insect knight
2. Millenium scorpion
3. Ulimate insects
4. saber beetle
5. chainsaw insect
6. insect queen ( have never liked it and wouldnt suggest using it)
7. Metal-armored bug (no effect, but pretty strong beatstick)
8. Another pinch hopper (Not recomend it , but sometimes you're forced to)
9. Howling insect or Gokipon are good too.
Uses:
Pretty self-explanatory monster, it dies and you get another monster , most likely a much stronger one. however you have to be carefull with its timing, since its an optinal effect, pinch hopper being sent to the graveyard has to be the last thing happening , meaning if you tribute it for a tribute summon or for a card effect , you would not get the effect, because after it has been sent to the grave , the summon or the effect would happen right after.
Strategies and game play:
PInch hopper is meant to die, but you must learn how and when you should kill it, to make the most of its effect.
Scenario 1 : You have pinch hopper and another strong insect in your hand lets say saber beetle, Dark Hole or torrential face down. so what you do first is you summon pinch hopper dark hole or torrential the field and then you get your monster, now be careful if your opponent has a couple of facedowns, if you can wait, then wait till you get something to clear his s/t zone. too.
Scenario 2 : Giant Trunade the field and chain call of the haunted to it to get pinch hopper back from the grave;so Call goes back to your hand and pinch hopper dies, so now you have just cleared the field and you get to summon a strong monster to attack with, plus you could re use that Call of the haunted later on.
Combos with other cards:
There's 4 monsters that let you search for pinch hopper.
Sangan and Gokipon allow you too add it to your hand.
Giant Rat and howling insect let you summon it right to the field, which is better , but it all depends on your situation
Ways to counteract it:
Anything that negates effects or that can remove monsters from play
DD Warrior lady
Dark Ruler Ha des
Ancient Gear Beast, Etc.
Strengths/Pros:
1. It gives you a free summon ( the whole point to this card)
2. Easy to bring out
3. Its low attack could be convenient because it can die easily
Weaknesses/Cons:
1. It misses the timing sometimes
2. You might no insects in your hand to summon
Variations:
This card comes out in
IOC and DR2 both common.
Artwork and aesthetics:
Pretty Kool card, There's nothing special about it , but i like it.
Overall rating:
9.5/10, it deserves it.
