Tookish Blood

Card text:

Playable on a Hobbit character. The Hobbit's player must make a roll (or draw a #): return the Hobbit to the player's hand if the result plus his unused general influence is less than 11. If the Hobbit is removed from play, one of his items may be transferred to another character in the same company; any other cards under his control are discarded. Alternatively, this card can be played as a resource card. For the rest of the turn, the target Hobbit cannot be discarded or returned to its owner's hand for any reason.

General description:
If you play Middle Earth, you know that no two players may have the same character in play at the same time. This can cause a BIG problem with your "game plan" especially if that character is KEY to your strategy (especially if you are playing THE ONE RING). Well, this card, TOOKISH BLOOD can help, at least when it comes to HOBBIT characters.

Uses:
Very useful when you want to play a hobbit character that your opponent already has in play.

Strategies and game play:
In Middle Earth, it is possible to "influence" a character away from your opponent so you can play your own version of that character, however you will need to be at the same site. With TOOKISH BLOOD, you can cause your opponent to return his hobbit character to hand (so you can play your own copy) while you are NOT at the same site. This saves time and keeps you rolling on your game plan without the unplanned, unwanted and unneeded "pit-stop" at your opponents current site.

Strengths/Pros:
Do don't need to be at the same site to have this card work for you...and if it works, your opponent must discard all but one item attached to the hobbit in question. NICE! Additionally, this card may be played as a resource to prevent a hobbit character being discarded or returned to hand so it can prevent influence checks against your hobbit and prevent the use of the card ABDUCTOR---and even other TOOKISH BLOOD attempts against your hobbits!
It has two uses rolled into one great card and it's a common card!!!

Weaknesses/Cons:
If your opponent passes the roll, you still can't play your character...especially if he/she has a lot of unused influence backing him/her up on the roll.

Variations:
This card is in both the WIZARDS LIMITED set and the UNLIMITED set.

Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork is "decent" but I feel it fits the theme of the card...which is very important.

Overall rating:
I give this card an overall rating of 8.5 for usefulness, availability (common) and art. (scale 1 to 10)

i love reviews on the common cards - all too often they are overlooked by players who feel the need for rarity and power - nicely done

Additional bonus to this card is that it's both hazard and resource, which means you can always add it to your deck for a resource or hazard slot.
