Join the Dark Side
Hey guys it’s Shuriken6 with another card review. This one in particular is one that I’ve been wanting to do for weeks, so even though the set just came out two days ago, I'm that impatient. Can you blame me though? Anyway, Eternal Meteor Kaiser makes his appearance in the recent DMR-02- Episode 1: Dark Side booster set, and this features more support for the forces of Hunters and Aliens, even adding Rainbow Aliens into the mix. This set clearly is focused more on Aliens than Hunters, but on the other hand, this set has given us probably one of the most broken creatures to date. Let’s look into that…
Newest Hunter out of the Academy
Eternal Meteor Kaiser is an 8 mana 8000-powered Red Command Dragon/Hunter with Double Breaker. But why is this card so broken? 3 simple reasons…
1. All of your creatures gain "speed attacker" (Serving as a "Hunter Version of Inaba Geeze, the Explosive, but with a wider range)
2. Your opponent's creatures are put into the battle zone tapped. (Serving as a Non-Evo Fire version of Elfeus Lord of Spirits)
3. When the ability of one of your opponent's creatures or spells would discard this creature from your hand, you may put it into the battle zone instead of putting it into the graveyard. (Serving as the newest addition of Discarded Creatures Group of creatures, such as Sanfist, Zack pichi and Arque Delacerna to name a few)
So his discard ability is a bit different than normal. Normally when a creature with this type of effect is discarded during your opponent’s turn they’re put into the Battle Zone instead of the Grave. This however, will trigger once your opponent’s creature ability or spell discards it from your hand. (Which means you Ganveet-Fanboys are screwwwweeedd ;) )
The Skeleton King
Plus Attack Equals: Discarding ->
The New Hunter Dragon
Its ability to tap summoned creatures on your opponent’s side is a real nuisance in itself. I got to experience it first-hand. It’s a really useful way to stop blockers in its tracks and a good way to beat your opponent’s forces down to a pulp.
And probably all of the Rush Fanatics are going nuts over this: All of your creatures gain speed attacker. Yeah that’s right. Every creature you summon is automatically healed of its summoning sickness right off the bat. Really useful isn’t it?
Eternal Meteor Kaiser Takes command of Hunting Squad Alpha: Team Hell. This features the best Hunters out of the Fire Civilization, ranging from the small fire birds, to the strong willed Humans, to the power houses known as Dragons. This powerful army has the approval of Gaial Kaiser to take on the Alien Forces that invade their home.
Hey he brought friends to the party!!
Hey I got a question. I know that this Dragon egg's mine, but who's taking care of that Green one?-Cocco Lupia
Yep, first off on my Card Combo section are these two little guys. Dragon Flare Egg and Hunting Gaia Egg are two special creatures. At the start of each/your turn (TCO/DM wiki translation mix up, recommended that you go withthe DM Wiki), you send the top card of your deck to the grave. if that card sent is a Non-Evolution Dragon (Flare Egg) or Hunter (Gaia Egg), you can swap the egg with the trashed creature. Thus, your egg "Hatches" into a newly summoned creature. this tends to be a easy way to summon Eternal due to the fact, he's both a Red Command Dragon and a Hunter. His cost is also at 8, making it so this is a definite alternative to summoning him. which brings me onto our next card:
Legend says that if you call out for your saver, then they will indeed come. And we Hunters never back down from saving someone in need- Super Psychen Pippi
Soul Calling (Crying of the soul/Call of the soul as it's known here on TCO) is a spell that lets you choose a race. You search your deck for 3 specific creatures of that race and put them on top of your deck in any order after showing your opponent. Using it in combination with the eggs will give you Eternal in no time flat
Let's go let's go let's go!!! I'm ready to kick some Butt!!- Deadly fighter braid claw
You guys had to have seen this coming. With Eternal Moon kaiser giving your creatures speed attacker, it's only logical to put in low-costing heavy hitters like Deadly Fighter Braid Claw. Only seems logical don't you think? (Note: Braid Claw isn't the only creature you can use, i used it in the example to represent the low costing creatures that could gain speed attacker through Meteor Kaiser)
One Alien, Two Aliens, Three Aliens Burnt to a crisp Four Alien, Five Aliens, Six Aliens Burnt to a crisp Seven Alien, EIght Aliens, Nine Aliens Burnt to a crisp, Ten Aliens Burnt to a crisp.- Uberdragon Sunburst NEX
Once again: Logical. With Eternal's ability to tap all of your opponent's creatures, and Uberdragon Sunburst NEX's unique ability to be a Hack-and-Slash Dragon of destruction, you can imagine how much damage he can do before he decided to break your opponent's shields.
You touch my egg, you die!- Cocco Lupia
For the newcomer's sake, Yet again, Cocco Lupia is obviously a must-have in any deck featuring dragons, especially since this one costs as much as he does. Since Cocco reduces the cost by two, the more you have, the cheaper he's gonna be, which also means that you'll get him faster.
Ok then, well thats it for the combinations, i'm trying to not load it down with so many pictures and trying to focus on the main points of some of these cards. Anyway, let's continue.
Sometimes wishing upon a star doesn't work out too well
What speed attacker?- Dione
Yep, this guy has the ability to shut down any Speed Attackers. And seeing as Eternal Meteor Kaiser gives your creatures speed attacker, Dione strips it of all its glory. Stupid Dione >_<
Get ready for a bad hair day- Whisking Whirlwind
Whisking whirlwind also counters EMK with the effect that it UNTAPS your creatures at the end of the turn. So because of that, EMK and his team can't target the defenseless opposistion. Keep that in mind
Tsk, Tsk Eternal... Did you really think that we didn't have a counter to our own abilities?- Saint Maria, Channeler of Suns
I guess someone ratted out Elupheus, teaching EMK how to tap your opponent's creatures when they come into the battle zone. Saint Maria not only untaps all of your Hunters, but it also adds a Shield for each one thats from the Light Civilization.
Saint Maria's Victory version: Saint Ave Maria, does the same thing without the shield additions. Nonetheless, it still is considered a way to not consider him unbeatable. (sounds confusing i know lol)
And just for the fun of it, having:
Merrianne, Vizier of the Alps, And also:
Chandelier, Channeler of Suns, The trio can Psychic Link into...
Crazy Carnival! Saint-Chan Merrie! (A Dragon of all things ) Anyway, this dragon has the same untapping ability as Maria, in addition to the Adding shields with the Light Hunters. And when it leaves the Battle Zone, you can discard a card from your hand to keep it, which in turn can throw Creatures like Sanfist, Arque and the like (Sadly not EMK, opponent's ability gotta do that) into the Battle Zone, to further mess with your opponent's nerves.
Soaring through the Night Sky
This card is by far one of the most overpowered creatures to date. One misplay involving a discarding creature or spell, and you're in pretty big trouble. His allies gain speed attacker, his enemies become walking targets, and the 2x breaker is pretty standard, but getting through an army of Syrius and Milzam's isn't so scary anymore is it?
Burning up in our atmosphere
The high cost is always a disadvantage, but considering how much he can do, and the fact that this guy can actually serve as a counterattack to Hand disrupting Darkness decks, I wouldn't mind having him.
Pretty Sapphire :3
I love the artwork. That's the reason why i post so many pics in my reviews, i just love the artwork of some of these guys. The dark sapphire dragon with the bright red and orange contrasting flames just works so awesomely with this card. It's definitely was worth the wait
Reach for the Stars
I'm giving Eternal Meteor Kaiser a 9.5/10. The Costs and his abilities are kinda the reason why he isn't a perfect 10. The cost is 8, which at this point isn't a big deal, but still isn't great. And his abilities are so overpowered that with the right deckstyle, we can see him on the future Hall of Fame list (Banned and Restricted list) which sure enough will tank quite a bit.
But yeah, thanks for reading guys and i hope you enjoyed it. TTYL ;)
