Okay, so Warren instigator is a double strike goblin for 2 red mana that cheats other goblins into play each time he deals damage to a player.
I would run 4 copies of this card in a mono-red goblin deck! Dropping a matron on first strike and searching for a siege-gang between attacks and dropping that siege-gang on regular damage is a little OP.
Strategies and game play:
Ok, so most people underestimate just how good this card is! He is especially broken when you draw both Lackey and Warren Instigator because you will be flooding the field with a lot of Goblins! Cheating in Siege-Gang Commanders, Goblin Matrons, Goblin Ringleaders, Goblin Warchief and Goblin Chieftain are all great cards to throw out early game. Ringleader refreshes your hand because you end up dumping it all on the field, Siege Gang presents an early game head start (drops 3 1/1 tokens and his other ability to sack gobbs [normally I sack the tokens] to deal 2 damage to a creature to leave your opponent vulnerable to more warren instigator attacks). He either causes you to leap into the game with a huge start, but can also crash and burn.
Combos with other cards:
Dropping Goblin Matron on the first strike to search Siege-Gang Commander between his attacks, and then drop him on turn 3. He can flood field within 2-3 turns which empties your hand. I suggest running 4 Goblin Ringleaders so that you can keep doing that! Also, running 4 Warren Instigators AND 4 Goblin Lackeys is a must in any mono-red goblin deck!
Ways to counteract it:
Stifle is a pretty nasty way people deal with Warren. Also, people tend to let the first strike go through then block the second strike to kill him. He is easily dealt with for certain decks, but combo decks like ad nauseum (with no creatures or very little) tend to struggle with him. Also since he drops 2 goblins into play, white players tend to save their day of judgments or wrath of god until you have a small hand size. This waiting can either be a blessing or a curse if you cant win by turn 5. Also, pro-red is a pain to deal with!
It's ability can drop 2 goblins in a single turn. People generally don't block the first strike damage, but intend to block his regular attack so dropping in a chieftain can REALLY save the day.
Low Strength and Toughness. Also, dropping too many goblins into play against white players is a bad idea because of cards like day of judgement and wrath of god. Board wipes are a thing to watch out for with this card. Play VERY conservatively against white because 1 day of judgement or wrath of god can make you lose if you over extend your hand.
Basically this card is a Goblin Lackey with double strike. It can be foil and it only has 1 release. Also, his foil version is only $1 more than his non-foil counterpart ($5 instead of $4)
Artwork and aesthetics:
His artwork is ok, and his flavor text is nothing special. The REAL treat lies in his ability!
8/10 He is AMAZING, but he does have some pretty bad setbacks.
