Well, when i was new to Vanguard, i saw a lot of Gold Paladin decks around. And they usually revolved around one sole card, the great Crossride with an amazing Ultimate break, it was Blazing Lion, Platina Ezel. I came to love the card a lot and decided i might as well write a review for those who didn't know about this awesome card.
Well, this card is meant to be used in a Gold Paladin deck with Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel as your main Grade 3 Vanguard.
" Prepare for Trouble!!" - Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel
More uses in the strategy part.
Strategies and game play:
Here comes my favorite part. The strategies involving this deck are many.
First of all, there are two ways in which you can go about the job.
The first way will be to have Crimson Lion Cub Kryph as your starting Grade 0 Vanguard.
" I may look small, but i can help you in more ways than you can think." - Crimson Lion Cub Kyrph
The awesome skill that this card has is that you can put this card and a Knight of Elegant Skills, Gareth to the soul, while having Knight of Superior Skills, Beaumains in your Vanguard Circle to get Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel to the Vanguard Circle. then crossride it with Blazing Lion, and there you have your 13k Vanguard ready to strike down!!
So, basically it is ...
" Time to show the beauty of the Paladins." - Knight of Elegant Skills, Gareth.
" Show them the power of Unity!" - Knight of Superior skills, Gareth.
And then here comes . . .
" Yo, Missed me? - Blazing Lion, Platina Ezel.
The other ( and less used ) way would be to go with Little Fighter, Cron
" Little Fighter!! Watch your mouth!" - Little Fighter, Cron
Or Dreaming Sage, Corron as your starting Vanguard.
" Dreams can become reality too." - Dreaming sage, Corron.
This way, you can search for Platina Ezel or Blond ezel from the top five cards, depending on the card which you don't have.
Combos with other cards:
This card cane go with quite a lot of combos.
1. Get Beaumains in VG, then use Kryph's skill to send Gareth and Kryph to Soul. Get Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel into the VG circle. Use his Limit Break to get another Rearguard. Then, next turn ride Blazing Lion, Platina Ezel, use his Ultima Break and you have some serious powered Rearguards to take down your opponent.
2. Other cards which you might look for to have in the deck are :-
Holy Mage Manawydan - Since you'll have 5 Rearguards ( should have ) while using Ezel's Ultima Break, it wouldn't hurt if one of them gets +2k while getting boosted.
" There's nothing better than having an ally with you." - Holy Mage Manawydan
Slaygal, Double Edge - As Gold Paladins pride themselves on having all Rearguard circles filled, it wouldn't be a bad option to have this card which gets +2k if you have 4 other Rearguards.
" The real fear that an enemy can feel is when he sees his opponent having more allies and benefiting in morale from that fact." - Slaygal, Double Edge.
Knight of Passion, Bagdemanus - A nice card to have with an Ezel Vanguard as it gets +3k while attacking.
" Ezel, My lord, Give me strength to demolish my enemies." - Knight of Passion, Bagdemanus
Mage of Disaster, Tripp - You will be Counter Blasting A Lot, so you need a card which can help you unflip damage. Well, Mage is gonna do that for you.
" Disastrous, Disastrous. Uhh? Not for my friends For my Enemies, Haha!" - Mage Of Disaster, Tripp.
Master of Pain and Disciple of Pain - If your opponent is clever and doesn't let you go to Five damage, you can troll him by using these cards to get yourself to 5 damage.
" Unless one learns what pain truly is, one can't succeed." - Master of Pain
" Yes, my master. I'll teach the world that no pain really means no gain." - Disciple of Pain.
Little Battler , Tron - Finally a 10k booster for your VG as you should have more Rearguards than your opponent. If you don't, just hit one of your opponents Rearguards to activate it's effect.
" The more friends she sees, the more lively she becomes. " - Blazing Lion, Platina Ezel.
War Horse, Raging Storm - This card can be used to put Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel from your hand to your soul in case you don't have it already or in case you got Blazing Lion earlier than Incandescent Lion. This way Ezel can reach 13k.
" Neighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." - War Horse, Raging Storm.
Ways to counteract it:
Well, the easiest way one can protect themselves from this card is not to get your opponent reach 5 Damage to activate the Limit Break. Other ways would be having a Huge Hand to block the powered attacks or having three perfect guards to block all 3 attacks. However, as I have seen, if you are a good strategist and if your deck is nice, this card can become a nightmare for your opponent.
In short, the advantages would be :-
1. 13k Vanguard ( with Incandescent Lion, Blond Ezel in soul )
2. Amazing Ultima Break, giving 5k to each of you Rearguards thus asking for a lot of defense from your opponent.
3. Ideal progression can get it out by Turn 3.
4. Great Late game winner.
1. Depletes your damage zone fully ( most likely if you don't get a heal ). So it's a one time skill and if you don't win that turn, it can get rough.
2. Depletes your hand ( As you have to get 5 Rearguards for full potential of the skill, Most often you deplete your hand completely). So can get extremely hard to defend your opponent especially with 5 damages, unless you get some Heals.
This card is only available in Booster Set 9: Clash of the Knight and Dragons.
Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork of the card is also quite good. It shows a Knight wearing some cool armor with a flowing red cape and a horned helmet. He is surrounded probably by a sand storm ( which is perhaps created by him ). Nice artwork according to me.
Overall, it's an awesome card and a must be for Gold Paladin decks which don't revolve around spectral Duke Dragon. I give it a 9.5 / 10.
