A level 4 shield blast that allows you to search your deck, have a good idea of what you have in shields, AND take any card from your deck and put it into your hand? Thank you water civilization! With the recently released "Elite Series: Triple Strike All Foil Deck," I decided to choose a card that was powerful back in RISE that is now available in a sleek, new gold foil for EVERYONE to obtain! (Thank you Wizards!)
Obtaining your knowledge:
Water is probably the most important civilization due to their draw power, and the Water civilization delivers. In order for your deck to be consistent, you need draw power.
With Crystal Memory, you are able to obtain knowledge through your deck you were not able to do before. What makes Memory SO powerful, is the fact that you do not lose card advantage and get a better idea of what you have left in the deck and what cards are missing that might be in your shields. It's amazing when it's activated from your shields and it's still great hard casting to predict your opponent's next move.
Predicting Plays: Memory helps you SO much when you are trying to setup. It allows you to somewhat set the pace of the game into your own favor. Bottle of Wishes is a difficult card to get around because how are you able to deal with a card that can randomly cheat in a detrimental card? My favorite play is to turn 4 Crystal Memory, search for Grip of Despair and play it turn 5 if I unfortunately hit Bottle in shields and brought out a serious threat.
I could search for Death Smoke, but what if the opponent has a Lux on board? Grip solves that problem AND the opponent discards a card, winner winner chicken dinner! It is also useful in the late game where you can search for anything to make the final push in the game, whether it being in creature form or removal form.
Final Verdict: This card is suited best for a heavy control deck, especially when they run multiple techs. It can also work in a aggro/control deck to setup plays and pace of the game. Just because you run water, doesn't mean this card would be the best option for you. Experiment, and play test thoroughly to see if it works for you. This card deserves a 5 out of 5 for it's extensive uses. Thanks again for reading my card reviews and hope you follow along to the next! Play smart and play fair!
