General description:
Hello again guys
The Nova Grappler~

Such an over-supported clan in terms of quantity, but not so much on quality during the second season. In that season, Bushiroad gave Novas three archetypes, but it was never indeed completed until the third season. And even so, only one of them gets the huge boost. Yep, it's the one and only, Beast Deities.

Beast Deities were firstly introduced to the clan in Set 6, the first set of Season 2. They were warmly welcomed to the clan as a new build and support for Asura Kaiser. Set 9 then introduced more Beast Deities, expanding the archetype into a fully viable build on its own. But that still wasn't enough for Bushiroad. Set 10 gave them their own Breakride and some generic support in forms of a 12k attacker. This was a sign, hinting that Beast Deities will one day be completed, and it was true. Set 13 marks the completion of Beast Deities, giving them powerful support cards, triggers, and their own Perfect Guard.

Uses:

Beast Deity, Ethics Buster

[AUTO] Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): When a «Nova Grappler» rides this unit, choose your vanguard, that unit gets [Power]+10000 and "[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, [Stand] all of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards in your front row." until end of turn.

[AUTO](VC): When this unit is boosted by a «Nova Grappler», this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle.

[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Introducing Nova's first Breakride! Ethics Buster! This guy (cat) is the reason why the use of Azure was greatly diminished. Although he lacks the pressure Azure can grant (which isn't that much to be honest), he makes up for it by having a more offensive push with Illuminal, capable of giving a guranteed two additional full columns upon Breakride which is pretty darn scary since it forces a 20k shield right of the bat. However, this gambit is nothing when compared to other scarier gambits from the same set, namely Descendant being the best example.

So far...

At this point, Beast Deities were pretty good but were still far behind from the rest. They were still dependent on the Breakride to work and some of their units were still pretty much vanilla. They were good, but not amazing. Set 13, however, quickly turned that around.

Strategies and game play:

Multiple Battle-Phase RG Stand

Beast Deities have gone a really long way since Season 2. Their play style that focuses a lot towards standing multiple RGs - as seen from cards like Azure, Illuminal, and Ethics, with the exception of Ethics Reverse since he's, well, Reversed - have been a real force to reckon with since the beginning, especially with more RG support they get along the way too, capable of standing more columns in a single turn. Note, not all of the cards are put here because they were simply clones that would not probably be used anyway. It's a bit sad that as more support comes along, their older cards became less and less valid because of newer cards filling up that spot due to better usage. Bushiroad should have given Set 13 support way earlier during Season 2 to give room for other archetypes to get their support. As said before, the newer cards are pretty much replacing the older cards so there is only one build that would be worth it to build:

Extreme Spam
G0- Beast Deity, Riot Horn (SVG)
4x Beast Deity, Death Stinger (Crit)
4x Another Trigger (Crit)
4x Another Trigger (Crit)
4x Beast Deity, Rescue Bunny (Heal)

G1: 14
4x Beast Deity, Solar Falcon
4x Beast Deity, Max Beat
4x Beast Deity, Desert Gator
2x Tech Slot

G2: 11
4x Beast Deity, Hatred Chaos
4x Beast Deity, Brainie Papio
3x Beast Deity, Damned Leo/Golden Anglet

G3: 8
4x Beast Deity, Ethics Buster
4x Strongest Beast Deity, Ethics Buster Extreme

Combos with other cards:

Strongest Beast Deity, Ethics Buster Extreme

[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): When this unit's drive check reveals a grade 1 or greater card with "Beast Deity" in its card name, choose one of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards, and [Stand] it.

[CONT](VC): If you have a card named "Beast Deity, Ethics Buster" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+2000.

[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

One would say Papio or Max Beat would be the best thing that ever happened to Beast Deities, but they aren't, because THIS GUY exists. Big apology to Azure and Illuminal, they have been replaced again. This card lives up to his name for being the Strongest and not only that, he works extremely (get it?) well with the Breakride by being able to stand both columns, like Illuminal, but with NO COUNTERBLAST COST. Oh, and he also gets a 13k base as a bonus. No words can describe how scary this card is, with or without the Breakride. Every non-trigger is now a Stand trigger. I thought this would be the end of Beast Deities' endless support but I was wrong. Introducing the next and fourth boss unit for Beast Deities.

Deadliest Beast Deity, Ethics Buster "Яeverse"

[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): [Counter Blast (2) & Choose two cards with "Beast Deity" in its card name from your hand, and discard them & Choose two of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards, and lock them] This unit gets "[AUTO](VC):At the end of the battle that this unit attacked a vanguard, [Stand] this unit. This ability cannot be used for the rest of that turn." until end of turn.
(Locked cards are turned face down, and cannot do anything. Turn them face up at the end of its owner's turn)

[CONT](VC): If you have a card named "Beast Deity, Ethics Buster" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+2000.

[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Ethics Buster Reverse is a rather bizarre card that really serves no purpose, for a few reasons:

1. The skill: Stand the VG? Please. Stern already exists 9 Sets before and is still and will be better. He gives pressure every single turn the moment he is ridden. This? Only late game. Probable once, if not twice. The amount of guards an opponent must block in that turn fails in comparison with Extreme's 49 Stand Spam that can work every turn upon Limit Break.

2. The cost: CB and discarding is fine, but LOCKING? Seriously? Beast Deities are known to STAND THEIR REARS. Locking their rears greatly reduce the synergy of the cards within the archetype.

3. The appearance: Do Beast Deities really need more support? Especially considering that Extreme already EXISTS. This guy falls in comparison with Extreme in art and synergy. This should have been Death Army support right here. The exact same skill would have been way better for Death Armies, especially if they have gotten more support. Rest potential targets to gain power/draw and then Lock those units for an extra stand.

One can argue: 'But oh! He can make 8 potential attacks that forces a lot of guards from the opponent!'. Oh yes, he can. Can he do it consistently though? Not really. A single damage trigger from the opponent completely screws it up if one was locking boosters. It may be better to lock a whole column but that defeats the purpose of the Break Ride which is what made him capable of delivering those 8 attacks.

Ok, let's count how much advantage he really gives without the Break Ride:

A normal column with him is a 2/2/2. Locking two of those will give 2/1/1 or a -2 for the player. And then the discard cost gives another -2 on that turn. Now, the opponent has to guard the VG a second time which means a +2 to the player in the worst scenario where they guard with a PG, granting a net total of a -2 advantage for the player.

How about with the Break Ride?

A Break Ride column gives 2/4/2. Locking two gives 2/3/1 or a 2/4/X depending on the unit that was locked. The better play will obviously be to lock the VG booster instead of a whole column since Ethic's Break Ride skill is something to consider. Essentially, the lock is only a -1 since the power gain from the BR negates the locked VG booster. Adding the discard cost and that's a -3. Now the VG attacks, standing both left and right columns for a +2. The VG attacks the second time for another +2 or a -2 to the opponent in the best case scenario, and also standing the two other rears again for another +2. In total, that's a -3+2+2+2 for a +3 overall. Just to be clear though, the +2 from the left and right columns that stood from the BR effect are 5k shields each or 'low' +1s which can be easily disrupted by a checked trigger in the damage zone, as said before. Overall, Ethics Reverse is pretty bad and falls short to Extreme.

Beast Deity, Brainie Papio

[AUTO](VC/RC): [Counter Blast (1)-card with "Beast Deity" in its card name] When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, if you have a «Nova Grappler» vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose another of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards, and [Stand] it.

EARLY PRESSURE CARD THAT DOESN'T MINUS, unlike a certain blank card. Amazing card. Good card. Staple card. If a column of Papio and Max Beat hits the opponent, one can stand that whole column again for 2 CB, making a loop hole for unsuspecting opponents! This is really amazing in early game and can push the opponent to 4 damages easily in turn 2.

Beast Deity, Max Beat

[AUTO](RC): [Counter Blast (1)-card with "Beast Deity" in its card name] During your battle phase, when this unit becomes [Stand], if you have a «Nova Grappler» vanguard you may pay the cost. If you do, choose another of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards, and [Stand] it.

Whoever have faced or used Novas before should know how super useful this guy is. Such an amazing card to keep the stand shenanigans flowing. With a single stand, he can stand another fellow unit, easily standing a whole column for a cheap cost of CB1. That pretty much translates into a CB1 for an extra +10k shield from the opponent, or a 'high' -1.

Beast Deity, Night Jackal

[AUTO]: Forerunner (When a unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this unit to (RC))

[AUTO](RC): During your battle phase, when this unit becomes [Stand], this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of turn.

Set 13 brings us Egyptian-themed Beast Deities and also, a third starter. Night Jackal is basically a G0 version of Dancing Wolf, capable of being an 8k booster the moment he stands. But with Riot Horn already present, it doesn't stand out that well. Riot Horn can easily give an additional full column with a single stand, this guy needs two to force the same amount of shields. A good addition, but not good enough to replace what Beast Deities already have.

Beast Deity, Hilarity Destroyer

[AUTO](VC/RC): [Choose a card from your hand, and discard it] When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, if you have a vanguard with "Beast Deity" in its card name, you may pay the cost. If you do, draw a card.

This guy is a bit weird. It's like Gojo but requires on-hit to recycle an unwanted card. However, because it is an on-hit, this means that his skill is pretty much restricted to early game. There's really no use to run him other than a 7k vanilla.

Beast Deity, Riot Horn

[AUTO]: Forerunner (When a unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this unit to (RC))

[AUTO](RC): When another of your rear-guard with "Beast Deity" in its card name becomes [Stand] in the same column as this unit, [Stand] this unit.

The second starter for Beast Deities introduced in Set 10 with an amazing skill. It's basically a Miracle Beauty clone and lets a whole column to stand again to force an additional 10k shield. Such a good starter that is still viable until today.

Ultra Beast Deity, Illuminal Dragon

[AUTO](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage): [Counter Blast (3)] When this unit attacks a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to two of your rear-guards with "Beast Deity" in its card name, and [Stand] them.

[CONT](VC): If you have a card named "Beast Deity, Azure Dragon" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+2000.

[CONT](VC/RC): Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

The big boss and Nova's first Crossride that was given in Set 9. This guy is really good with Azure back then in the days, with Azure giving out pressure from early-mid and Illuminal to force more shields in late game. Not to mention, this is in Nova Grappler, a clan that unflip damages easily so this guy's skill can easily be used twice in a game, forcing out an average 10k shield each. The 13k base further helps the defense but it wasn't long until newer support came in Set 10 and the use of Azure was greatly diminished.

So far...

Beast Deities have gotten their own Crossride and a fully dedicated build can now work. But it still wasn't enough for them to match up with the rest. They were pretty decent up to Set 9, nothing more. Set 10 then gave them better tools to play with.

Beast Deity, Azure Dragon

CONT](VC/RC): If you have a non-«Nova Grappler» vanguard or rear-guard, this unit gets [Power]-2000.

[AUTO] (VC): [Choose a card named "Beast Deity, Azure Dragon" from your hand, and discard it] When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose up to two of your rear-guards, and [Stand] them.

During the time his name was revealed, people were all talking about how this guy is Asura's Crossride, which is ironic because he turns out to have a Crossride of his own later on. That aside, he is Nova's second almost condition less 11k base VG (Asura was the first) with a Persona Blast ability that stands two rearguards upon hit. If White Tiger is boosting this guy and the attack hits, one can pay their cost to stand three units at once, which is pretty good since neither of them are restricted to Late Game. Not to mention, he also has his own personal searchers like Mandala Lord which are Beast Deity, Scarlet Bird and Beast Deity, Black Tortoise.

So far...

Well, the whole strategy was pretty good. With more and more support coming along, this strategy is severely weakened. Set 6 was overall a decent support to the clan, but Set 9 started to mark the support for Beast Deities as a Sub-Clan.

Beast Deity, Gold Anglet

[AUTO](RC): During your battle phase, when this unit becomes [Stand], this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of turn.

Golden Anglet here is a psuedo 12k attacker that can increase his power again and again for every time he stands. A perfect target for basically all the standing shenanigans, just remember to put a 7k or above booster behind him to have a proper column before and after he stands.

Beast Deity, Blank Marsh

[AUTO](RC): [Counter Blast (1) & Put this unit into your soul] When an attack hits a vanguard during the battle that this unit boosted a «Nova Grappler», you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your rear-guards with "Beast Deity" in its card name, and [Stand] it.

Set 9 brings in newly themed units. Blank Marsh here is a G1 version of White Tiger with a higher base power that was given in Set 9. Nothing much can be said since it basically have the same pros and cons as White Tiger. Just a reminder that getting rid of this 7k booster to stand a rearguard is not worth it.

Beast Deity, White Tiger

[AUTO]: When another «Nova Grappler» rides this unit, you may call this card to (RC).

[AUTO](RC): [Counter Blast (1) & Put this unit into your soul] When an attack hits a vanguard during the battle that this unit boosted a «Nova Grappler», you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one of your «Nova Grappler» rear-guards with "Beast Deity" in its card name, and [Stand] it.

The first starter that was introduced for Beast Deities and also Nova's first retreating starter with a 5k base power. His effect is pretty simple, attack something while being boosted by him and if it hits, put him to the soul and stand something. That pretty much makes him a -1 and depending on the rearguard you stood, it can easily be washed into a net 0 since your opponent must also take a -1 to guard that newly stood RG. Again, it depends on the rearguard.

Ways to counteract it:
We can stop this unit skill by attacking the rear guards or retiring so that he/her cant use the break ride skill.

Strengths/Pros:
The whole deck is pretty self explanatory. Basically just keep on standing the rears until the opponent is worn out from early-late game through Papio and Extreme's Limit Break.

For triggers, 12 crits are run here with no stands because Beast Deities can pretty much stand themselves already. In the G1, there's an option for two tech cards that can be two copies of Blank Marsh, Toughboy, or Dancing Wolf. Remember, Extreme can stand any Nova rears, all it needs is to drive check a Beast Deity. In the G2, there is a choice to run Anglet for a more offensive push during the battle phase to act as a second 12k attacker or Leo (10k vanilla) for a better base power during your G2 VG ride. And lastly, G3s are very much self-explanatory.

Weaknesses/Cons:
There's nothing else that Beast Deity really need, honestly. Another batch of triggers, probably. That said, Beast Deities are really solid right now, capable of tearing through almost any kind of decks. 'Almost' is used because there are just some decks that can completely destroy Beast Deities. Retire decks, are one prime examples with 13k Cross Ride decks being the other. RG retirement can hurt Beast Deities a lot since they focus on their RGs, with the exception of Reverse (hence, why he's Reversed). Beast Deities also can't form 18k columns easily without giving up their main gimmick to stand RGs which is quite ironic since Ethics Extreme can also be a 13k body. Another thing I noticed, after reading from other sources, is that Beast Deities may be too reliant on late game and doesn't do much in early game, with only the small exception of Papio.

Variations:
We can find this unit in Cardfight!! Vanguard : Booster Set 10: Triumphant Return of the King of Knights.

Artwork and aesthetics:
i really like the artworks they have made and i mostly likes sky its very beautiful to see the pictures.

Overall rating:
i will give this a 9/10

This is one of the coolest Beast Deity's out there. Personally, I think it is the strongest, because of the break ride.
