Skyla Full art Version 2.0 a fan service card?

I wanted to review this card mostly because it's reprint of Skyla Boundaries Crossed Full Art card but with new artwork.

Originally this card was given as a Promo in Japan when you purchased 2 boxes of Pokemon XY8 Red Flash and Blue Impact. It's said that Skyla was chosen because she is a popular Gym Leader.

Upon the information coming out of this promo card there was some controversy among collectors more specifically in Western culture due to what is perceived as the over sexuaization of Skyla in this card with her stretching, arching her back and pushing out her chest. There was questioning as to specifically why the re release of another Full Art Skyla which is the first Full Art trainer with 2 different cards, especially with a large number of Gym Leaders unrepresented in the TCG let alone a full art card.

Overall this a very useful card and has been used in many deck since it's original release. this card allows you to search your entire deck for any trainer card, you must show it to your opponent and then you may place it in your hand.

Strategies :
This card is most useful to draw an item card such as a Rare Candy or Evosoda allowing you to quickly evolve a Pokemon. It can also be useful to pick a tool such as a muscle band to beef up your attack. You may also select another supporter by playing this card however being that Skyla is a supporter herself you will have to wait till your next turn to play the supporter you select.

Combos with other cards:

It's most important to use this card in your deck when you need to be able to draw a specific trainer card a a moment's notice.

How to Counteract:
Effective ways to counter this card would be with a Pokemon such as Seismetoad EX, Trevenant from the XY base set which can both disallow items to be used, limiting you to supporters only.

Stoutland from Boundaries Crossed, although only allowed in expanded format has an ability to prevent the use of Supporter cards

Gives you the ability to search your entire deck so you can see what may be prized or not. Also it's main function to allow you to immediately get an item without waiting to draw it normally.

It does use your one and only supporter per turn. It also requires you to show your opponent what card you draw, so if you are waiting to use that card another turn your opponent is aware of what you are holding. It could be replaced with something like a trainers mail which has similar function by allowing you to look at your next 4 cards and select a trainer for your hand if there is one. Then you do not sacrifice using your only supporter of that turn.

I've already mentioned the 2 different versions of this card as a full art. The art as mostly all Full Art Supporters is fantastic as well as the detail in the foil on the card. The original artwork from the Boundries Crossed series was done by Kanako Eo. This new version of the card is done by Megumi Mizutani. The downside I dislike that the cards seems over sexualized for a game that many younger kids play. I also dislike that it's the 2nd Skyla Full Art.

Both of the Full Art versions tend to be on the pricy side. You'd pay upwards of $20-$25 for either version. There are uncommon versions of this card in Boundaries Crossed and XY Breakthrough which are both significantly less expensive usually under $1.00. Lastly there was a League Play Promo which is a holo version of the Uncommon Skyla available too. Again generally available under $1.00.

Overall I give this card a 7 out of 10.
In most cases useful Full Art Supporters are an easy 10 out of 10 but being that this is a reprint but with different art and I also feel that the artwork is a bit of fan service. Along with other alternative such a trainers mail or more specific type Supporters like Korina give you more ability for your supporter turn.
