General description:

another one of my favorite cards. its banned tho so this is a card that u would use more when playin your friends.

Uses:

you would use this card more for its effect more than anything but its got power to back it up too so you can use it as a normal monster and then just fall back on its effect in a tight situation if you wanted too.

Strategies and game play:

if you are gonna use this card your probably gonna team him up with his brother Black luster soldier-EOTB and dimension hole to take your opponent out in one turn. well its really 2 but whos counting
a strike ninja wouldn hurt in a deck with him.

Combos with other cards:

this is a combo i personally like to use, and hope that you will try it out for yourself heres how it goes
first of all you wanna make sure your well into the duel before you use the combo so you can hit your opponent full force with its effect.
make sure you have at least 2 light and 2 dark monsters in your graveyard and the field and both players hands has a reasonable amount of cards. then summon black luster soldier-EOTB and use dimension hole on it to remove it from play until your next standby phase. then summon Chaos emperor dragon and use his effect this will cost your opponent 300 life points for every card destroyed wich is like 5000 life points (give or take) then end your turn this will give your opponent a chance to set 1 card of whatever type he draws. then he will end his turn (what else can he do?) then you can draw and with black luster soldier back on the field use his effect to destroy the card your opponent put down (if it was a monster) then atk his life points bam u win a 3 card 2 turn combo.
or use the yata combo.

Ways to counteract it:

you could use barrel behind the door, hallowed life barrier, interdimensional matter transporter or divine wrath or you could delay it with a card like book of moon or compulsory evacutation device.

Strengths/Pros:

good atk good def GREAT EFFECT.

Weaknesses/Cons:

there really arent any outstanding disadvantages but it is kind of useless if you dont have his brother to back him up or the required monsters in your graveyard to summon him.

Variations:

this card comes in IOC and as a special edition in TLM and as a ultra in DR2

Artwork and aesthetics:

personally I think it is the greatest looking card in the TCG but thats just me.

Overall rating:

in an envoy deck 10 out of 10 cuz thats what hes there for
in a normal deck 7 out of 10

man i love this card ever sooo much and its effect only once did it get countered and it was by hallowed life barrier and i didnt hav his buddy the black luster soldier out just yet other than that ther isnt much of a way to block it. i mean maybe a divine wrath could stop it.

nice combo with Dimension Hole, but other than that this is a shallow, one-sided review just about how you personally use the card.

Strategy/Combos:
Interdimensional Matter Transporter: Have this trap set the turn before you summon Chaos Emperor Dragon (CED), summon CED and use his effect, then chain IMT to it to save CED from his own effect. This combo is very similar to your Dimension Hole strategy, but easier to pull off.
Sangan/Witch + Yata: One of the more infamous strategies in the game to date...have either Sangan or Witch of the Black Forest already on the field this turn, summon CED and use his effect, add Yata to your hand, summon Yata and it creates an instant lock with takes away Yata's only disadvantage...dealing enough damage before you deck out.

MAJOR Weaknesses
Barrel Behind the Door: In addition to redirecting the damage CED would inflict to you back to your opponent, they already paid 1000LP just to activate the effect. Very ouch.
Winged Kuriboh: While CED's effect doesn't trigger Winged Kuriboh's protection effect, you can chain many cards to CED's effect to destroy your own Winged Kuriboh (like Torrential Tribute, Assault on GHQ, etc.) and protect your Life Points from CED.

well after the cards are destroyed is when you take damage so barrel behind the door wouldnt work and if you used IDMT then the effect wouldnt take place because CED wouldnt be there the same with strike ninja and his effect magic cards that designate him as a target would be negated because he isnt there anymore and as for the sangan/witch yata combo that effects anydeck regardless if it has a CED and a yata wouldnt kill them a BLS would and a one sided review cmon its a review about a card I use so of couse it would be about how I use it.

CED doesn't need to be on the field for his effect to resolve...that's why it works, otherwise sending himself to the grave for the 300 damage per card would negate his own effect. IMT works with it.
Barrel Behind the Door works against CED because it's chained to the effect which inflicts damage, just like the Ring of Destruction/Barrel Behind the Door combo.
The Yata wouldn't kill in the very next turn, but your opponent will not be able to draw ANY cards at all, leaving a completely empty field for as long as you can summon Yata and they have LP remaining.

And by definition, a review is "an inspection or evaluation for examination"....just writing about how you use it is fine, but it's not a deep review informing other people WHY it's good....it's informing people why it's good in YOUR deck. The Dimension Hole combo is good, really good...but that's just telling us your strategy and there's more than one way to use this card. Personally, when he wasn't banned I used the IMT combo with it in my dragon deck when it wasn't a kill shot.

just one thing wolfangsd winged kuriboh only blocks out battle damage. and IMT and Barrel Behind the Door would work. you would use shimmy's dimesion hole strat for a kill and yata if you needed more time.

ok, my fault about Winged Kuriboh...I could've sword it didn't say "battle" in front of damage.

And yeah, the Dimension Hole combo is a nice kill shot, if the monster that's set face-down isn't something like Newdoria, or the trap they set isn't something to stop the attack. That's why most people played the Yata lock with CED's effect back before the banned list, it was a sure victory once pulled off.

i think UDE r ga* and banned chaos emperor cause little kids were crying that their "dark Magician" was dying from it or somethin!

i mean i used to win tournaments legit (and so did other ppl) cause of this card but UDE had to be ga* and ban it!
why do u make a card and all of a sudden ban it?

and to top it off, they banned it and recreated it again in "the lost millenium"

if u ask me, UDE can't be more stupider than this!
