Subject: Complete Chaotic Deck Builder's Rules   Posted: April 5, 2015 04:56 am

Since you don't know the rules on how to build a deck, here they are in a comprehensive list. You can also view the official rulebook here.

quote from Complete Chaotic Deck Builder's Rules:
You can play Chaotic with decks of different sizes: 1, 3, and 6 Creature decks are the most common sizes.
-On this site, it is preferred that you construct an army of 6 Creature Cards.

For each Creature Card, also select one Battlegear Card and one Mugic Card.
-When choosing Battlegear, your aim should be to equip any that either compliment your strengths and strategy, or compensate for a significant weakness.
-When choosing Mugic, make sure that they work towards your deck's goal, and try to have your Creatures be able to cast or use most/all of them.

Create a 10 card Location Deck. You can use any 10 Location Cards you want as long as you stick to the Rule of Two and do not have multiple copies of Unique or Legendary cards. (see below)
-When choosing Locations, make sure the abilities are mostly or entirely beneficial to you, and try to have Initiative that works with you whenever possible.

Create a 20 card Attack Deck. The 20 Attack Cards you choose must not exceed 20 Build Points (Build Points of each Attack Card are inside of the starburst icon in the top-left corner).
-When choosing Attacks, be sure to only include cards that can be used effectively by most/all of your non-support members.

Rule of Two: You can only have up to two copies of any card in your deck, unless the card itself says otherwise.
Q: Are Creatures with the same name but different statistics considered different Creatures?
A: No. Two Creatures (or cards of any type) are considered to be copies of the same card if they share the same exact name.
Q: Are cards with the same name but different subtitles considered different cards?
A: No. For the "Unique" Rule and the "Rule of Two", cards with the same name but different subtitles are considered to be copies of the same card.
(e.g Maxxor and Maxxor, Protector of Perim are considered copies of the same card for this rule.)

Unique: This ability indicates that only one copy of a card with this ability may be included in a player's deck. This does not include other cards with "Unique" you control that don't have the same name.
(e.g Lore, Ancestral Caller and Lore, High Muge of the Hive would not be allowed in the same army as they are considered copies of the same card, but Hammerdoom Chantcaller and Lord Van Bloot would.)

Loyal - [Tribe] [type]: A card with Loyal cannot be played in an army unless all other Creatures in that army share at least one of the same Tribes as the card with "Loyal". If there is a listed Tribe or type designation then all Creatures must share at least one of the listed Tribe or type designations.
(e.g Chaor would not be allowed in an army with Intress, Ursis, or any Creatures who aren't of the Underworld tribe.)

Legendary: A player may not include more than one copy of any card with the "Legendary" keyword in their deck. This does not effect non-"Legendary" copies of a card as long as the other copy doesn't have "Legendary" and still follows the "Rule of Two" and "Unique" Rule.
(e.g Tangath Toborn, OverWorld General and Tangath Toborn, In Training can legally be in the same army, but Grantkae, Mipedian General and Warriors of Owayki cannot.)

Ok thanks, so what I'm doing wrong is having 6 locations instead of 10? I thought it was 1 location per creature.

10 Locations at all times. 20 attack cards at all times, and the total Build Points (numbers in the uppermost lefthand corner) must add up to no more than 20. The gear and Mugic are the things you keep proportional to your creature count.

Oh so even if I have attack cards adding up to 20, I still need to make it so there's 20 attack cards??

Yes. There are a lot like Velocitrap and Sediment Stormshield that are worth 0BP, so those and the rule are around to balance out the high rollers. Otherwise it's unbalanced and un-fun when everyone rides with twenty 3-5BP cards, you know?

Ya I see what you mean, I just thought the BP had to add up to 20, just making a replica of one of the decks I have at home. But what stops people from just loading up on the most OP creatures? I know other online tcg's have you acquire the cards in game and then you're able to use them. But here you can just go for any?

We typically try for an honor system here to emulate using our real cards the way we did on Chaoticgame.com... but since we have no way to input codes for validation, there's really nothing stopping you from using cards you don't own. The problem with that is that you probably won't have valid stats for a creature not in your possession. I've actually reviewed and been in a few games where they had to be abandoned because of people floundering for stats they didn't have. =/
Only real method we have of preventing a few grouping of the meta creatures are just game mechanics: no Enre-heps with Najarins, no double Koponds, etc. You'll still see the occasional "shiny" deck loaded with nothing but super/ultra rare cards for no other reason than their rarity (those decks have little to no card synergy and are fairly easy to beat if you ask me).

If you want to use a creature you don't have--which we kinda frown upon but do tolerate--it's best to ask around to see if someone owns a real copy so you can borrow that player's stats for it. I own quite a few, and so does Snorvell (check him out, he's awesome).

Ok awesome sounds good. Do you or Snorvell do any physical trading? That's what I got on here for but especially if it would help out online as well. PM response if you'd rather.
