Subject: Favorite Return to Ravnica spoiler?   PostPosted: Tue Sep 18, 2012 10:33 am Reply with quote

Does anyone else have a favorite Return to Ravnica card that has been spoiled so far?

I nearly lost my mind when I saw Deathrite Shaman. (Photo: http://i.imgur.com/MLJKQ.png) As a player who is most interested in formats like Legacy and Modern, and who favors green in as many of my decks as possible... I am in love. It will often be insane on the play on the first turn of a Legacy game, with it being ready to potential ramp you to three mana on your second turn if your opponent dares crack a fetch land. And not to mention the fact that it has one of my favorite creature types — ELF! This could give it added versatility in an Elf deck, but it seems to me like it might best reside in an iteration of Caleb Durward's Nic Fit rock archetype, or perhaps in BUG Control.

Any way you slice it, I can't wait to try this card out. I am preordering my playset tonight, and will be on the lookout for foil copies going forward.

Do my brothers and sisters out there have any other new cards that made their jaws drop?

I am loving the golgari cards coming out like the obvious Vraska the Unseen
and as you mentioned Deathrite Shaman
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord has potental
abrupt decay has alot of hurt in it

but the main card that I am excited to see is actually an uncommon and is none other than:

Dryad Militant

You are not alone... that was the card that I was most excited about too, before Deathrite Shaman got spoiled. So I remain very psyched about that one as well.

Abrupt Decay should be great, and I was definitely intrigued by Vraska. I want to try her out, for sure. I am hoping that she will be good. Apart from Gideon, the five mana planeswalkers haven't gotten a ton of love or play over the years.

....and after the pre-release, of course - where I got to run him out, is the New Prahv Guildmage. Had two, and they were instrumental in more than one victory.

Before I played, the Rest in Peace was a heavy fave, and I still think it will do wonders in Standard.
