Subject: Trading with "guests"?   PostPosted: Mon Dec 27, 2004 2:32 pm Reply with quote

In my opinion, guests should not be allowed to post here. How am I to trust a ... "guest" anyway?

Isn't this the main reason why we are on this site, after all? To trade as safely as possible and have a positive reference for it?

Just my .02 cents...

Well this site also runs with the reference rule. A guest doesn't have any references. So they will be asked to send first. It would be your own fault if you decide to send first instead and get ripped off.

Kilalya's right baron_ployer, that's why all of us are here, to trade, right? You're a member and have 4 references, a guest has none and very little to check up on inside this community? There for they would send first and you would have the control of the trade. Guest trades are fun, they always seem to drop cards into the pot that you didn't have in mind for trading and it helps show them our site to hopefully become a member themselves. The more members - the more cards out there to trade for, we all win.

Maybe it was my fault (or I didn't make myself clear enough), but you both got me all wrong...

My post's bottom line was: if someone advertises his/her cards here and remains a "guest", why not register FIRST, and THEN advertise one's cards/trades? Doesn't this make much more sense? Why is this site up anyway? My view of it is that we're a community of traders and, as such, only “members” should use it. Otherwise, there are plenty of other websites/forums where trades can be announced/made, right?

Like you said so well yourself: the more *_MEMBERS_* we have the better we trade, right? I, for one, have always put this site's URL in all the signatures I use in the several Star Wars forums I'm a member of. This is a much better way to advertise the site, I guess. The forum is a very recent feature here. What do you think "guests" did before that? Wink

P.S. the amount of references is debatable, btw. I have more than 4 successfully completed trades through this site, but since at least other 4 were made with the same members that situation is not reflected in the final amount. Something I alerted the Admins before, in the past.

P.P.S. kilalya, I also use the same rule as you, when someone has no references to show. Members included.
