General description:
Cyber Dragon has quickly become the newest staple in the game, being run in every single tournament-winning deck. Never before has a tribute monster without an effect that helps it when it's already on the field seen so much play time since the emergence of The Fiend Megacyber. Although I personally dislike staples and avoid using them like the plague, I will admit that Cyber Dragon gives some support to the LIGHT type monsters, although maybe a little too late for advanced-style chaos decks.

Uses:
Obviously, this card is to be used to counteract a swarm deck. Being able to special summon a 2100atker is a huge deal in today's metagame, especially since it still gives you your normal summon later in the turn.

Strategies and game play:
There's not a whole lot of strategy to using this card (which is one of the main reasons I don't like it). Just make sure you have no monsters on the field when your opponent has something out.

Combos with other cards:
Luminous Spark would make this monster a 2600 special summoned attacker, and of course there's Cyber End Dragon which requires you to have 3 Cyber Dragons in your hand and/or on your field. Now that I think about it, with Cyber Dragon being so popular, you could probably take your opponent's Cyber Dragon with Mind Control or Brain Control and fuse it with your own...now that's a sting!

Ways to counteract it:
Bottomless Trap Hole immediately comes to mind, as well as Royal Oppression. A combo I use against Cyber Dragon is Zero Gravity, esposing the weakness of his 1600 points of defense.

Strengths/Pros:
Having a special summonable 2100 attacker which could possibly change the tide of any duel is a strength. Also, being a LIGHT attribute, this monster boosts the power of LIGHT decks and [XYZ] machine decks.

Weaknesses/Cons:
Because it's so popular, it's expected to run into 3 Cyber Dragons in a competitive deck, which would give your opponent an edge. Also, his defense is too weak and could be exploited with cards like Enemy Controller.

Variations:
In the US, this card is only available as a super or ultimate rare from Cybernetic Revolution.

Artwork and aesthetics:
Honestly, it looks more like a knarly worm than a dragon. I don't like the image too much personally, but it's not useful for its image lol.

Overall rating:
I give this card a 8.5. The fact that everybody wants a Cyber Dragon or 3 in their deck hurts the qualities that make this card as much of a threat as it should be.

the only reason why i thinthis card is kinda kickass is because when its your first turn and your opponent already has a monster out you can go ahead and summon him...

An old review, but still good. Also this card just got put back to 3 and its a staple at the very least in the side deck if not main decked. Now, how many you choose to run if up to you. Machina decks are very powerful for its also nice to have these along with chimeratech fortress dragon.

2 other cards that might stop cyber dragon is prohibition or array of revealing light, but both can be destroyed quite easily.

I think this card is awesome but you are right it can be stopped by stuff like Archlord Kristiya. So I give it 4 out of 5

Good review...
I sincerely hate Cyber Dragon... Its very creation led to the dissapareance of any <2100 Tribute monster (Vampire Lord and Airknight Parshath anyone?) and with the Synchro mechanism it is totally broken. Its effect is totally outrageous... A level 5 monster we summon without using the Normal and without tribute, and with more ATK than Berserk Gorilla (the one monster that already had made VL and AP somewhat risky)?! Then they limit it (one of the few thing I agree with them...) and spawn a lot of downgraded versions with different requirements... And after all those downgraded versions, this guy is back at 3?! Hah! They made those cards totally useless!... Not that they were so useful... Oh well, its lifted restriction isn't a real surprise considering Heavy Storm and Dark Hole switched their in-ban status.
Hmph! This banlist was a real fluke...

I feel I have to defend cyber dragon,

I agree good but not as broken as more so than half the xyzs they have release and the plays they make

• a common play is tour guide ss tour guide overlay to zenmaines Cyber dragon loves this play, ss cyber dragon if they use a warning or bottomless it’s a net win 1 for 1, or a 1 for 1 with lp cost, if not constant fusion it as zenmaines is a machine turn it into a 2k fusion yes it lost 100 but it stops you wasting a banish or 3 attack on zenmaines to clear it,
• Makes a stardust/scrap dragon/thought ruler with a level 3 tuner or if you have a level eater in your gave and normal summon junk synchron it makes a Trishula,
• In chaos decks it’s a Caius the Shadow Monarch in a single turn
• In twiworlds it’s a Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon ss cyber dragon ss a goldd or silva giving you’re a destruction and still a normal summon
• Its light you can drop an honest in damage cals to guarantee it winning the battle and doing 2100 damage to your opponent
• It’s a machine limit removal it remember limit removal doubles its current attack not original
• Attack with cyber dragon enter damage cals active limit removal if there is no response drop the honest meaning its doing your opponents monster attack and 4200 extra which is pretty much game right there
• In machina decks it’s a Jinzo first turn
• It bates back rows warning, judgment, bottomless etc leaving it safe(r) for your normal summon monsters
• Its 2100 it can run over most normal summoned monsters (skill drain decks monsters excluded)
• Its back at 3
• He is a huge come back from Karakuri otk if you survive their turn ss contact fusion hit for around the 4-6k mark

I love Cyber Dragons cause it is a easy way to summon really good rank 5 monsters. Also use QuickDraw which is a good combo. He is more in a speed deck instead of strategies. Mix him with synchrons and that is why is is good for a Synchron deck.
