Blonde-Haired Dragon Tamer
Hey guys, Shuriken6 here with another review of course And this time around, i'm gonna do it on one of my all-time favorite cards as a kid. As you can imagine, when the TCG was stil going on in english, I can safely assume everyone wanted to be Shobu (I mean, every 11-13 year old would want to be the Main Character of their favorite TV Show) Just because he had Dragons; Even now Dragons, although not used much aside from Bolshack NEX, as compared to months back from now, still serve to be a popular race to feature in a deck, and can you blame them? there's at least 16 Dragon Races. But back to the reason why this review is here. Speaking of the Anime, my favorite episode has to be episode 41 of the Sacred Lands season: "In Deep Duel Duel" where Shobu and his new friend, Flora dueled against the Ploop members Wilbur and Pollyana. While Shobu did his thing, Flora featured the card in this review, using said creature to summon Billion Degree Dragon and Bazagazeel Dragon as well (The ladder i think was summoned by mana, since it was a Nature/Fire deck) But ever since then i wanted Kachua, Keeper of the Ice Gate. I got the card through cheating on the GBA game , but i wanted that card in real life; too bad that never happened

Anyway, Kachua Keeper of the Icegate, in my opinion can easily be used in today's Meta (Today's gameplay scenarios) With the ability to summon Speed Attacking Dragons...? Why not? With that said, let's get this show on the road shall we?

The Blind Girl with the Sight of Dragons

"I was born with this unique power of summoning dragons. And Dragons exist in all of the civilizations; The Armored and Volcano Dragons in the Fire Civilizations, the Earth Dragons in Nature, the Zombie Dragons in the Darkness, the Hydro Dragons in water, and the Solar Dragons in the Light Civilization. They are my eyes to this world. So free and versatile, and powerful; Because of this power I have a strong bond to them that I wouldn't trade for any physical eyesight."- Kachua, Keeper of the Icegate (DM: Cross Force Chapter 6)

Yeah, I'm sorry, I just had too quote my fic (>_<) couldn't resist. Anyway, Kachua is a 7 mana, 3000 powered Snow Faerie released in DM-08: Epic Dragons of Hyperchaos, in English and DM-08: Invincible Legend, in Japanese. These two sets are the first to feature Dragon Races in the Nature Civilization: Earth Dragons and the Darkness Civilization: Zombie Dragons. Water and Light lucked out on this so they decided to build Anti-Dragon stuff out of Jealousy. Fire ended up digging out the Volcano Dragons from the magma, so in total, 3 new dragon races were introduced. What Makes Kachua so special is her Tap Ability. For those new guys, its an ability that lets you tap your creature instead of attacking. This causes the creature to activate its ability. Kachua's is that you search you deck for a Dragon and put it into the Battle Zone. That dragon has Speed attacker, but unfortunately it's destroyed at the end of your turn. Or is it unfortunate (o.O)? *Dun* *Dun* Dun*...!

Well that depends on the kind of deck your playing because this can be used for your benefit keep that in mind.

Kachua's Shadow Serpents
Kachua's Shadow Serpents a Deck based on the relationship of Kachua and Guljeneraid, and is also based on the plot of Chapters 6 and 7 of Cross Force, where the Antagonist plan to use Kachua to resurrect Guljeneraid. This deck is a ordinary Fire/Dark/Nature Dragon deck. one of the main points of the deck is summoning Guljeneraid Via Kachua; When Kachua's Dragon is destroyed at the end of the turn, Guljeneraid can be summoned from the grave into the Battle Zone. As i commented on my deck, It's like a Creature Control deck. Kachua summons heavy hitters, they die, Guljeneraid takes their place. meanwhile the Lupias decrease the costs to have some dragons out to begin with along with Dark Lupia, hanging out to slice and dice the opponent's creatures every time a dragon's slain.

Kachua's Loyal Subjects
Kachua can be used easily in today's meta, but... at this point, no one thinks of the English sets, or they just don't care to experiment and see what she can pull off. however, I'm not one of those who stick to one thing, i always think of different scenarios to pull off combinations with my faves. So with that said, I'm gonna be covering a lot, so I'm warning you, this is gonna take a while so brace yourself. If you don't care for all of this, just skip this part. You've been Warned...

Dragons

You fools don't understand the Meaning of pain!- (Terradragon Diruga Vejida)

Starting off this neverending list is Terradragon Diruga Vejida, a 9 mana 23,000 Quad Breaker! This Card's IDEAL for Kachua. Once it's destroyed, it returns to your deck and you shuffle, allowing it to be reused once again come next turn!

Who told you that Knights and Guns don't Mix? (Romanoff the First)

My Attire may be different; But you're still my Target... (Romanoff Zero)

Romanoff the 1st and Zero both are one in the same, the only difference is that the 1st is a Knight and Zero's a Hunter. however, with that said, both of them can search your deck for a Darkness card and send it to the grave. Guess which card that might be if I'm mentioning them in this...?

Arise! Necrodragon Guljeneraid!!! (Romanoff Zero)

That's right, Necrodragon Guljeneraid, the meaning of a Zombie Dragon down to the letter. if any of your dragons die, Guljeneraid is pulled into the Battle Zone from the grave without restriction. The romanoffs send it to the grave, they attack, the second the turn ends, they bite the dust due to Kachua. Afterward, if Guljeneraid's in the grave, he gets pulled out. and you can have 4 of them in the grave, all it takes is 1 dragon to pull all 4 out .

Two Flaming Claws raring to go cut something down, let's get started!- (Bolshack NEX)

Bolshack NEX, of course he needs to be included. The Lupia Generator himself, NEX can be sent into the Battle Zone by Kachua, and do his own searching on his own for a Lupia Card. a neat little combination to avoid losing NEX is to use this Lupia Right here

Sorry Kachua, But I ain't dying anytime soon ;)(Valkyrie Lupia, Sky-lord Dragonmech)
By evolving your Deck-Jumping Dragon, it nullifies Kachua's destruction effect as the creature that was sent i'snt existing in the Battle Zone anymore. And with Valkyrie, you can search you deck for more dragons.

Brace yourself, a Tsunami's coming, and it's name is Hogan Blaster- (Super Spell Grand Blue, the Blue Tide)

Super Spell Grand Blue is an upgraded Hunter version of the original Spell Grand Blue, this version allowing you to cast a spell for no cost if it appears on the top of your deck, whether the dragon enters the Battle Zone or attacks. With that said, if Kachua sends it into the Battle Zone, you flip the top card, if it's a spell, then you cast it. Kachua gives the Sea Serpent Speed Attacker, so flip it a second time. Spell again? then thats 2 spells casted for free, that could possibly change the tide of the match (No pun intended)

Back in my day, Having Triple Breaker was magnificient; now everyone has it...- (Billion-Degree Dragon)

Yes Despite him having very little use for the the TCO vets and the Japanese crowd, i'm adding him for the sake of the English Players, because thinking of the Anime episode, there's no way that i can't mention Billion Degree, because the fact that it turned into a speed attacking triple breaker just wrapped that duel up.

Hahaha, I'm Immortal Remember? (THE Immortal Kaiser)

THE Immortal Kaiser is another Dragon that can zip right past Kachua's death dealer. Just burn 3 mana and you can keep it. It works as well because every time your dragons attack, you add mana from the top of your deck, so its not like you're losing anything by doing that because you'll just get it back.

Speaking of mana, we also have this Trinity Civilization Dragon

Light gave me blocker, Nature gave me a lot of mana, and Fire's maintaining the amount i have. Yup, each Civilization's doing it's part.-(Romanesk the Dragon Wizard) Which adds an extra 4 mana. and once it dies, its effect of making you destroy a mana is canceled so you can keep the 4 mana; Awesome

Even after death, I'm still able to protect those close to me... (Asylum, the Dragon Paladin)

Asylum, Not mentioned at first cuz this is pretty obvious. Kachua pulls him out, he does his thing, second he dies he turns into a shield. A Great shield recovery card to be frank.

Witness the arrival of my Strongest Companion!- (Kachua, Keeper of the Icegate)

Gotta mention Evo's so... Super Dragon Valkyrias, a Evo Armored Dragon that pulls one dragon from mana into the Battle Zone. After Kachua kills him... You still have another dragon that you got from mana to use to cause more destruction. (Fun Fact: Shobu used this to get Bolmeteus Sapphire Dragon from his mana zone in the DM Charge Series ^_^)

Ok Two more dragons left then I'm moving on.

In your world, your warriors have a weapon called Galaxy Shot- HELL; In my world, I AM HELL- (GILL Supergalactic Dragon)

GILL Supergalactic Dragon is the Creature version of the Knight Spell: Galaxy Shot-HELL. In a similar fashion to its spell counterpart, GILL destroys all of your oppoents creatures w/ a combined total of 9000 or less. Afterward, only one shield is destroyed, compared to the spell that destroys a shield for every creature wiped out.

Legend has it that there exists a blade that would bestow the user the Galaxy Breaker. In order to counter the aliens, we re-created the blade, added claws, feet, a tail, and Dragon-like features. I don't know how, but we ended up with this... On Behalf of the Blade, We'll name it: THE FINAL Kaiser, because this is the last time we're playing God, agreed?- (Gaial Kaiser)

For the Last dragon featured we have THE FINAL Kaiser, the Galaxy breaking dragon that will serve, now and forever, as the: "All Or Nothing, Make it or Break It" dragon. It's main purpose is to end the game with it's Galaxy Breaker, which breaks all shields on both sides. incredibly risky because it can cost you the duel if you get duds for shields, or your opponent gets triggers to mess you up.

So before you people start saying: "Oh you forgot this dragon blah blah blah" Keep in mind that There are WAY TOO MANY to cover and i went over the ones that i personally thought would make an impact so sorry if i disappointed you >.> if you don't like it, then write your own Kachua review. Moving on We have the Fire Birds, mainly just Lupias so yeah this shouldn't take long because there are some that just stand out in this relationship.

Fire Birds

Don't worry NEX, I got your back! (Mach Lupia)

Mach Lupia, the fire bird that reduces NEX creatures' cost by 1 and gives Armored Dragons speed attacker, which in turn sends all non-evo Armored Dragons summoned that turn back to the owner's hand. Since Mach will be hanging out with Kachua, at the end of the turn, you choose which effect to use, so your dragon doesn't have to be destroyed and it can be sent back to your hand instead of the grave.

Hey Machy, I wanna help Mr. NEX too! - (Cutie Lupia)

Aww Cutie Lupia... She sends any NEX Creatures back to your hand if destroyed, a lovely quality of the Water Civilization. At least it's something.

My Fallen Dragon comrades will give me the strength to cut you down! (Dark Lupia)

Dark Lupia works wonders with Kachua, because when the dragon dies, Dark here slices and dices one of your opponent's creatures; simply splendid and awesome when trying to rid yourself of annoying creatures.

Hey Vejida, I have some of my friends joining you if you don't mind!- (Rinne Lupia)

Wanna reuse those dragons some more? Rinne Lupia sends all your downed dragons back to the deck whenever they're destroyed so you can be as repeitive as you want.

Probably missed another fire bird somewhere but ah well. So We covered that However there's a slight problem. We can do so much w/ Kachua, but the fact that its 7 mana and only 3000 power is a burden.

Other Stuffz

I aid those who need my assistance- (Petrova, Channeler of suns)
Well isn't that convenient? Keep Petrova to boost the Snow Faerie by 4000. Now at 7000 power, she'll be harder to kill and at the same time she can do a bit of damage herself. and Petrova by herself is a pain to get rid off since she can't be chosen by cards that target it for an effect.

Break time's over, back to work -(Metal Cook, the Exploding Flame Chef)

Force of habit, I've noticed about myself, I always come back to edit something once i post the review. This happens to be one of those senarios. Metal Cook's Timer, a creature with a tap ability of its own, and that is to Untap one of your creatures. Use this with Kachua and you'll be able to untap her, allowing you to use her ability again OR protect her from being attacked next turn

Savers

Forget what i said about them being redundant... Sure enough as much as my view of Kachua's power is just summoning one-turn dragons, this is a fact that's hard to ignore. While i won't go much into detail concerning them, it'll just be enough to give you a basic idea.

(In Order from top to bottom) Chai Aini Poppo "Yatarou" Pappi and Loppo Loppo are all Savers for all types of Dragons, with the ladder also supporting Samurai and Phoenixes respectively.

Malulu is a Saver for Earth Dragons

Behind the dragons is a poor defenseless girl
Unfortunately, Kachua hides behind her dragons. with only 3000 power quite a lot can take her out for the count, obviously too much to list >.>

Now now my dear, Don't fret, you'll just feel a bit of a drain is all... - (Death March, Reaper of Death)
A 1 mana Grave evo that can steal 4000 power from whatever it battles with; Death March such an easy way to take away Kachua's 3000 power.

Around and Around And Around they go!- (Bolshack Dragon)
Tornado Flame, a Classic Fire spell that kills one creature w/ 4000 or less, its a shield trigger so it can get rid of Kachua pretty fast, if it triggers.

Worse... Superhero... EVER!!! (>_<)- Kachua, Keeper of the Icegate

Despite being a Dragon, Bolshack Superhero has a tendency to... Kill everything; He destroys all creatures w/ 3000 or less and psychics w/ 5000 or less. So in actuality, he does more damage than he does saving everyone, especially towards Kachua, who falls under the 3000 mark.

WARNING: Not for creatures 5000 or less- (Super Flaming Hell Scrapper)
Finally a 3rd card that kills due to power, Super Flaming Hell Scrapper is the updated Hell Scrapper card, only difference is that it costs 1 less, from 7 to 6. all in all it still is the same card, which kills all creatures w/ total 5000 or less. Sorry Kachua

A Heroine in her own right
The ability to summon any dragon out of your deck and turn it into a speed attacker is just perfect for an Assault-type deck, hands down. Mix mana acceleration w/ her civilization and people will truly hate dragons from then on

Damsel in Distress in her own right
Her ability is great and all, but the reason why she isn't used nowadays, is the 7 mana 3000 power ratio. Its a pain, having her cost as much as she does, and then on top of that, the hundreds of cards that can utterly mess her up, just for having 3000 power. So in this senario, she needs a Hero to protect her (Not Bolshack Superhero)

The Dragon Princess
out of all the snow faeries i've seen, i personally think that Kachua looks the most Human out of all of them. The blonde hair, the red and pink kimono, it just looks beautiful on her. and the dragon behind her is indeed a nice touch, showing how much of a relationship she has with the power houses.

Overall rating:
Kachua is gonna get an 8/10. I love this card to death, Honestly; However, the major turnoff is the Cost and Power, which i can uderstand makes the card more balanced. However, they could've made her at least 4000 or 5000, that way she can avoid most of the destructive Fire and Darkness cards that deal with attack power. But what can you do? Point is, she's awesome, she can summon dragons, and you can pull off a ton of combinations with that; Can't get any better than that can you?

Yeah I know; But as you can see i must've listed almost 20 cards if not 15. I figured that talking about the Dragon Savers would've been redundant because a lot of people know how savers work. Besides, dragons used w/ Kachua are normally one-turn guys who are just being summoned to make a quick but forceful move.

Well, something that tells us how to protect Kachua so that you're sure that you will use her effect without harm, like Grand Cross Catastrophe or that Light/Darkness Creature with Saver:All Races.Increasing her power is not enough with all this Slayer fest.

EDIT: You should try to get rid of obvious supporting cards such as Savers too, unless you want to do a "support" category instead of a "combo" category.
There is a big difference.

Ok, since savers are redundant in a way, and we wouldn't be adding more dragons (not even evolutions >.>), maybe have more ways to protect her (him) as tudordan said, or ways to make her more effective like with seikishi (or paladin on wiki), whirlwind tailspin, that timer thing that untaps a creature...

Then that little for counters? Nolan, that's unlike you :3 I know you like Kachua, but those few cards doesn't really tell us how we can completely shut her (him) down. Just think...Indigo Kaiser? Magnum Doll?

Seems kachua's gotten really strong with those 10-cost dragons. Too bad it is still held back by the 3k power, hope they release an upgrade anytime soon. Nice and detailed review btw.
