General description:
My first Avatar, my wing man, always seems to be there when I need him the most-even when I'm Grade-locked at 1. This card has gotten me out of many a jam, in both the Vanguard and Rearguard circles.

Uses:
Marhaus has a very straightforward skill. When he attacks your opponent's Vanguard, regardless of where he is on the field, he gains +2000 Power. This makes him a base 12000 when battling the Vanguard. Pair that with a boost from "Little Sage, Marron," the Royal Paladin 8000 Power Grade 1, and you have an easy 20k attack that will eat up a guard.

Strategies and game play:
As stated before, he can be useful anywhere you play him. However, if you want to abuse him as much as you can, get a full front row, or two rearguards, and go all out on the Vanguard. That makes it two to three 18-20k attacks without breaking a sweat, and that's without abilities like "Silent Sage, Sharron" or "Margal" before the boosters are Called for support. That leaves little room for comfort.

Combos with other cards:
There really isn't much to say about any combos, just line him up with the strongest booster you have and go for it.

Ways to counteract it:
While he is powerful against the Vanguard, only having one Skill leaves much to be desired, and even in the Vanguard Circle, a couple of 10k Guards will hinder any progress.

Strengths/Pros:

  • Base Power of 10000 makes him hard to hit with weaker Units.

  • Gains +2000 Power when attacking the Vanguard, making it easier for it to hit.

  • +2000 Skill can be used as Vanguard or Rearguard.

Weaknesses/Cons:
  • Can only max out at 20k without any other skills in play.

  • Can be easily guarded, especially against high Power Grade 3's.

  • Only has the one skill, so is kind of a one-trick pony.

Variations:
This card has been released as a Promo card for "Extra Booster: Calvary of Black Steel," as well as being the same set's R. The same artwork is used for both variations, but the Rarities are different, of course.

Artwork and aesthetics:
A Human knight in white armor with what looks like a pair of blue Z-Sabers...me gusta.

Overall rating:
Well, even though he is my first Avatar, I can't say he's even close to other Royal Paladin Units like "Majesty Lord Blaster," "King of Knights, Alfred," or "White Dragon Knight, Pendragon." He is a useful utility and I believe he can be splashed in many Royal Paladin builds. "Twin Shine Swordsman, Marhaus" gets 6 Z-Sabers out of 10.
